Kershaw has made numerous versions of the Blur, but none has the combination of characteristics that we’ve assembled for this drop. Launching exclusively on Massdrop, this Blur features a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) BlackWash blade made of S30V stainless steel—renowned for its resistance to wear and corrosion—plus a Navy Blue handle with Trac-Tec grip tape Read More
These are great knives. So addivtive. Just the right size, not too large, not too small. And I love the speedsafe assisted opening, though I understand it's illegal in some jurisdictions and countries.
It's funny, assisted opening is barely different than a flat out switchblade. Just that you have to start the process with the thumb stud instead of pressing a button.
I unknowingly tried ordering a Kershaw automatic (push button) recently from a reputable dealer, and he promptly refunded my payment since I didn't have military or law enforcement credentials.
I ended up getting a brown handled Blur in Elmax. Haven't really used it too hard, but it's become my go to EDC blade.
I'd be all over this one, but the blue metallic handle really isn't to my taste. Black or brown handles with a black wash S30V blade, and I'm in. Or in Elmax.
S30V is more highly regarded and it is more expensive. It wears differently than Sandvik. $70 for an S30V Blur is a good deal, especially if you like blue and BW. I paid more for my S30V plain satin blade... too bad the only way to get the plain tanto I like is the BDZ1 plain tanto... still waiting for a plain edge tanto in S30V or S35VN.
ponagathosIt seemed like Mr. 12Pack was doing an apples/grenades comparison. I'm not familiar with this board, I may have replied to the wrong post. But still...
The wife is like Earl schibe.....knows paint and she suggests plasti-kote although wood is an interesting take. Some wormy maple epoxied in sounds cool
Hey everyone, we're very excited to announce the arrival of the Kershaw Blur with a DLC BlackWash S30V blade. The DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating provides extra corrosion resistance and makes for a stealthy look that blends into the black Trac-Tec handle inserts. After applying the DLC coating the blades are tumbled to give them a BlackWash finish that hides any additional scratches from daily use.
Our goal was to bring a knife to the community that featured premium steel, a durable coating, and stylish good looks—all at an affordable price point. This is a project we have been working on for many months and have finally got the go-ahead from Kershaw to launch the drop as production is wrapping up. We're looking forward to the drop launching tomorrow morning!
13 versions of the Blur? As a Blur collector myself, you are WAY off on that number! There are 5 versions of just the blue here (including the navy models) before this one. Lol Another Kershaw beauty and in blue to boot!
overgroundActually $10 cheaper but I understand your frustration. I too got in on the first drop of these. Happy with the purchase either way. Great looking knife and I love Blurs! :)
Question to those who have received their knives already (Mine should be here today!).
How strong is the liner? Is it strong enough to survive a decently hard whack on the back of the blade when it's open?
