Good little knife for under $40
Great news group! We’re happy to report that all of the orders have been shipped out from our warehouse early and are now on the way to you! Please allow 24-48 hours for tracking to get into the shipper's system and start updating.
If there’s anything else we can do to make your Massdrop experience better, feel free to contact us via “Contact Support” button in your transaction page: https://www.massdrop.com/transactions
Well this is definitely a great knife to start out with.
Can't wait to get this awesome looking knife. This is actually my first knife and diffenately not the last. Requested the zt 0561.
Does it usually take this long to get the item? It's my first time on MD.
An exciting update! The group’s order was picked up from the vendor and is now on its way to our warehouse in New Jersey. Given the tracking information provided, our warehouse team expects the shipment to come in by 9/16 and will be ready to get the order repacked and off to you as soon as it comes in.
Occasionally the shipment experiences a delay en route, but rest assured that we will keep the group updated throughout the entire process and let you know if something causes it to be set back.
We are thankful for your continued patience and you can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 9/18 or earlier if anything comes up.
Why does Massdrop seen me an email about this drop in perticular, IF THEY DONT ALLOW ME TO JOIN IT? (living in Norway and all)
A few weeks ago, I bought the Stonewash version of this knife for a friend. I'm glad the Blackwash version popped up recently, because I needed one for myself after having seen it.
I like the blade geometry and the overall design of the knife. It is a nice gentleman's knife. It's small and thin enough to be unobtrusive, yet it has a 3" blade made of a pretty high-end powdered metal. ELMAX is superb because of how ridiculously sharp it can get, how long it'll hold that edge for, and how easy it is to sharpen once it dulls. It is a very desirable input material despite its high cost.
I hope this is a discontinued model. It'll soon become a collector's knife :)
Just discovered this channel for cheaper knives, I buy a squarehead and then they stop sending outside the US. Marvellous...juuust marvellous...

Were all feeling the pain Brother!
Massdrop stopped shipping knives outside the US. People were having problems with customs.

Yes, but... they probably get stung by paypal refunds if the customer doesn't get their goods.

Holy shhhhhhiii... Now that's a reason I can understand. First argument I feel is really valid. On the other hand, just remove paypal as an option for knives?
No shipping to NZ? I count 6 other people looking for international shipping. I would be all over this if you shipped it to me. What are you doing massdrop??
Simongti
Yep. I am in NZ as well. Some of the deals on here were so good. Very disappointed in this decision... but I kind-of understand. You can still use the NZ postal service, they have a US postal address you can sign up for, and they will send it to you... for a price!
so why can't Canadians join this drop?
I have a lot of knives, probably around 30 or 40. I have 2 leeks, they are my favorite hands down. I don't have any withe ELMAX blade though
Not cool USA, not cool...
I have a regular old leek in 440, and it's a great little knife. Slim, thin profile, great EDC. The blade profile is a little different, but I've grown to like it. Not going to get in on this drop as I still have my stonewash Knockout from the last drop that I need to offload, but anyone looking to buy, you'll be happy with this knife.
US only :(
PotatoTM
why US only??
WiseGuyTW
Massdrop only ships knives to the US now because of regulations on importation of knives around the world. :(

aww no norway drop
y u no international shipping?
Wow. The descriptions Massdrop has provided on this are riddled with inaccuracies. This has a aluminium handle, not 410 steel. Its blade is pure ELMAX, not a brazed composite. I'm also fairly sure this is DLC Blackwash, not the cheaper black-oxide type. It would also be fair to say this is closer to a wharncliffe than a drop-point.
Edit: Also, why is this drop not open to international customers?

Damn, good for looking out! Yo, M.D. editor in chief, pixll done come across some points! Hmmm, guess I'll have to check some back references and compare info. Still, Elmax Warnie + Ken onion= hell yeah!

Massdrop just notified me by Email stating that because of too many Customs seizures they will no longer offer knives to international customers. Even though they stated at the bottom of all knife drops that any and all customer seizures were not their responsibility. It is a real luck of the draw thing now, bringing in knives to international destinations. Too many hard arsed laws, and over zealous Customs Officials. I have been very lucky I have received all, and every, knife I purchased over the years. Even knives I thought they would take, but that risk is still mine to bare.
OK. This is for the blackwash version. I was wondering where all the comments had disappeared to. But they are on the page for the stonewashed blade.
The picture at the very top shows the stonewashed blade, so I thought it was the same.
Elmax steel has really grown on me. I like it much more than the standard Sandvik steel Kershaw uses in their knives. I like Elmax a little more.than S30V even.
I usually prefer blades in the blackwash. For example, I have a Blur in Elmax, and I think it looks better in blackwash. But for some reason I like this Elmax Leek I. stonewashed better. Maybe because the knife is smaller, and the cleaner look of stonewash makes the whole knife look simpler and sleeker. It really a matter of taste.
I haven't received the Elmax Leeks from the last drop yet, but expect them to be great. I love my regular Leeks and expect the Elmax version to be even nicer.
Would have gotten the black wash over the stone wash from the drop the other day. Wonder why this has steel handles vs the aluminum handles of the stone wash version?
I have this model in the solid black and it is one of my top 3 favorites, and my Constant Carry. It holds an edge well, and opens as fast as possibly needed with ease. On the down side, it has opened partially in my pocket a couple of times. The first time it happened I was not paying attention and it got the best of me, but I do not normally use the locking mechanism for the blade either - my fault, not the knifes.
