Designed by RJ Martin, the Kershaw Scrambler features a 3.5-inch drop-point blade made from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, which is easy to sharpen and corrosion-resistant. Kershaw’s signature SpeedSafe opening system delivers smooth spring-assisted blade deployment, which locks the blade in place via frame lock Read More
Great everyday carry. Very easy to operate one handed. You get used to the G10 only being on one side, but there's still a (slight) lack of grip on the handle.
I got quite addicted to the SpeedSafe opening mechanism and preferred it over my Recon 1 / PM-2 / Mini Lawman for a while. However, after about 4 months of decently heavy use, the blade is a bit loose while open, unless you jam the frame lock back into place. Likewise, the blade shakes a bit in the closed position - nothing on the brink of failure, though.
If anything, I'd like to try a more expensive Kershaw now. It's a cheap intro to the manufacturer.
In summary: would recommend, but be aware that the lockup isn't as tight as a backlock, etc. for really heavy use. Would buy again as a beater regardless.
None of my carry knives are perfect. Some have had the handle come loose within days of opening. Others have arrived needing to be sharpened, but thats almost expected these days. This one has come close to being the best. Great weight and the stone wash looks good too. If this comes up as a drop again ill probably get the regular version.
