I was hoping for it as a ruler that I'd have with me. It is definitely more decorative than functional, largely because of the closing mechanism, and how it stretches. But, for the price, you get what you pay for. The measurements are accurate placed next to a ruler.

Leave it looped. If you undo the leather (so you can lay it flat), the leather around the pin gets all wrinkled and ruined when you try to re-affix it. Other than that it's a strip of leather on a keyring, leather looks good (not great but good). The keyring ring is nice
