If you’re a fan of minimal carry, you probably know KeySmart. If you’re a fan of not losing your keys (aren’t we all?), then you probably know Tile Read More
Absolutely phenomenal. Charges in ~1/2 an hour, lasts for weeks and weeks, and works amazingly. It's literally the only app I allow to
use background app refresh bc it's so damn useful. I've even used it to find my a few times. I love this Tile integration so much that I'm going to get one for my wallet now, or get a wallet integrated with Tile, too.
I'm sure this is going to be of great use for me. My only disappointment is that I had been under the impression that if I lost my keys I would be able to track where those keys were at a later time. Recently I lost my keys on a bus. Tile would show me the location that the keys left the range of my phone i.e. where they were last in my possession, but the keys would end up traveling some considerable distance from that location and Tile would not be able to provide any additional information about where the keys ended up. Somewhere that may be kilometres away from that last known location.
Interesting that everyone is saying that the battery is poor. Perhaps if I rate it later I may rate it lower.
Battery is always dead, doesn't seem to last a week even though i have seen it advertised with a 3 month duration. App doesn't notify you when the battery is dead. If you are a person who forgets the keys you are going to forget to charge the keys....
constantly having to recharge it, 5 times now since I received it in Feb. The white color gets super dirty, kinda difficult to use the bottle opener/certain keys
It broke within a couple of months (no longer charges). It worked OK, but personally I think the product has a few minor flaws that would make me stay away, despite it breaking.
1. Alarm on key chain is too quiet
2. It turns out that unless you move around a lot during the day, being able to track your keys on a map is not very useful (may be for some)
3. Requirement to keep phone bluetooth turned on (would be great if it also worked with WiFi)
4. Bulky design and not always the easiest to dig specific keys out (not the hardest to use, of course, but a key chain should just "work" in its basic function of containing and providing quick easy access to keys)
It's a nifty device, it's difficult at first to understand the spacers and line them up with your keys, and then the balancing act to screw it together, but we'll worth it! The battery does not last as long as advertised, but it is acceptable. My only complaint is the range in which you can ring it. If you don't have an idea which room it is in, you're SOL.
Ultimately, I would recommend this device to anyone looking to clean up their key ring.
I love the ability to track my keys and ping my phone. Downside is that it only seems to hold a charge for about 2-3days which is way shorter than I would have ever expected for his device and much shorter than I was made to believe. The direction say to ensure that you charge it every 30-60 days so it can be tracked.
I’m also disappointed that white is the only color available sinCr all my vehicle keys are black and the key|smart rides in my pocket all day with my multitool or tactical pen. The device started looking dirty within weeks of receiving the item from rubbing up against these items and my car fob. The rubber charging port cover is now a pinkish-tan from my skin and clothing discoloring it.
Better than using a regular tile and carrying around a heavy thing of keys. Pretty minimalist. Has a light and a bottle opener. I only put 3 keys on it so it works out fine for me. Helps me find my keys all the time since i have a bad habit of either leaving them in my pants which then goes into the laundry, or in my jacket, or losing them under a stack of papers on my desk. Holds a charge fairly well. Bottle opener part is also used as a loop end for holding other keys or clipping to a lanyard. Kinda inconvenient when you have to get a key out because you cant really push the key out and use it if you have something attached to the loop.
