Oh my god. You've ruined my Vortex Core. It looks so big and clunky now.
I might try one of those gherkin things if the key rows were offset, but that would make the width a key or so wider.
Or do you get used to the grid layout quickly?
Hey folks,
I've put together a few resources about this very fine keyboard here:
https://github.com/GonzaloAlvarez/ifd68
Including:
* Original programmer windows application from keywalker
* Original firmware software and firmware files from keywalker
* Review images and disassembly images from Pinwaishe.com
* Manuals and docs from FCC
* Summary of options and keybindings
Also, I'm currently working on:
* Key/Lights programmer for Linux/OSX (my goal is to have the lights blinking upon receiving an email, for instance)
* Embed a Raspberry Pi Zero W
I hope you guys like it. Please, if you want to reach out or you have ideas, submit an issue in https://github.com/GonzaloAlvarez/ifd68/issues, even for questions or whatever, and I'll be happy to hear.
Happy typing!!
InocenteJust curious, did you turn on the switch and set it to pairing mode by holding down FN + Q key? The Q key would then start flashing and it's in pairing mode.
If you're a Mac user there's a few things that might help you decide on this.
There's no hardware dip switch way to swap ⌘ and Win. You'll need Karabiner Elements or the system settings to swap this to save your sanity.
If you don't have access to a Windows machine or don't dig Wine hackery you can't run the .exe files to update it.
If you like switching open windows with ⌘+~ and ⇧+⌘+~ you'll need a Karabiner hack to map that to Escape. It took me a few tries to get it right, I've got the script if you want it. What doesn't work is holding down ⌘+~ and then hitting Escape to cancel the action. Unless I'm completely stupid there is no work around for that.
Should you be coming from an Apple keyboard this one is a little taller. If you've moving your hand to an Apple trackpad it takes a few days to get used to the height differences.
Dimming the screen can't be done with a single F1 keystroke as with the Apple keyboard. You'll need to hold down they keyboard's Fn key and tap 1 to get that to work.
That's about it. If you can live with all of that it's a solid board.
julesallenOddly, I don't mind switching things like control keys in my head. It feels like a transposition on the piano to me.
I own a larger Keywalker BT and the only thing wrong with it on my MBP or Samsung S3 Tab is the slower Bluetooth iteration. This 68-key version is 4.0 or better, I believe, which solves that issue. I might still jump on this.
I picked up this Keywalker 68 last time around, and I've been using it with my Macbook Pro 2017 with no issues. I do have to use Karabiner Elements to rebind a few keys, but that is not a real problem.
The Keyboard itself is of pretty good quality. The battery gives it weight and heft.
I have no idea how long the battery lasts, because I've never used it completely unplugged for longer than like 12 hours of continuous use.
I picked it up in MX Blacks which I may swap out for vintage, or custom blacks at some point.
Sets with compatibility kits can be difficult to find.
Look for GMK sets, or SA profile sets, and then see if they have the option to pick up additional compatibility sets.
PrototypeWhere did you get those keycaps bro? Cant find that fits on the right sides control function alt keys.. Also do you know how to remove the backcover does it have screws?
udllerMan, I'v been in dire need for a board like this. No longer will I have to stress about my lack of a second page up key! Here marks the advent of the "Double Up Keyboard"!
No mx clears, no Linux support, no dice.
I use only Linux . This is a deal breaker, unless someone who already has one can confirm Bluetooth works on Linux?
mazzafoxOf course it will work with Linux. They don't support it. That means if something goes wrong, they aren't going to help you recompile your kernel. Linux has had bt4.0 support for ages. There is no reason it wouldn't work.
Need more information about the battery life, and programability..
I don't understand why there's no information about the battery life even in the manual..
and last I want to know if it's possible to switch the device like logitech easy switch
It says something about FN + Q/W/E but, I don't really get it
1. battery life
2. programmability
3. device switch
I love that all the specs and code are accessible. I swear, this site is like crack for keyboard fanatics. Every time I think I'm at the ultimate destination, something better/cooler/slicker shows up. Often at a price that I can't refuse.
