I purchased a ObdLink MX+ not long ago, it is not a elm327 chip, it is 327 compatible and works with I phone, it was not cheap either and the case and indicator arrangement seems similar to this. My main reasons for getting a better unit is the cheaper ones are elm327 chips or even cheaper copies, I'm sure this is not one of those, it's 327 compatible, if I just wanted to read simple engine codes I could do that with a cheap one coupled with the free torgue app. But I wanted more with access to better apps which would be compatible with all newer can vehicles and all of the other modules, which there are many.. I'm used to using the expensive factory or Snap On($4000.+!)scan tools, I don't have access to them anymore. Blue Driver's and it's software seemed like the best choice because it would give you the most access without paying extra ( usually $10 +) per vehicle for extended modules, but Blue dr only works with their app and I plan on doing motorcycles also. Just remember 99% of the time cheap is just what you get, the software that the adapter will work with is as important as anything else and you have to research what you want and need and free or $5.00 apps don't offer much either. This is just the info I have found lately, there is a lot more out there to know if you are expecting more than basic use, and I am still looking for more.
