Based on knifemaker Matt Degnan’s custom MC design, the Kizer Guru is small enough to comfortably carry anywhere, but stout enough to take on most anything. The 3-inch S35VN blade—arguably the best commercial steel available—measures 3.5 millimeters thick for strength Read More
Liked the feel and the materials, the style is ok.
Unfortunately the pivot/screw is coming undone after a couple of months, blade is playing. Screwed it back in a couple of times, probably needs some loctite.
Very well made knife. Note the blade shape makes it look and feel bigger than it is due to the lack of tapering but this also makes it nice and strong with decent weight. This made an excellent gift for a good friend of mine.
I own the larger Kizer c01c and live it but since then I have purchased the guru in the flipper style. Since then I carry it everyday. Great action for a $99 knife!
Howard81084It's not really a $99 knife, it's just that Kizer has so many outlets that you end up able to find new old stock or random deals on individual older models.
Great materials for a good knife. A little fiddly opening with the thumb stud, demands some practice before mastering, cut myself two times allready on this. I would like to have this with a angled stud instead of the rounded one, feels like I put too much pressure downwards instead of uppwards. If I try too hard I have a tendency to press against the lockbar. But with that said, I very much like the knife, and the design, but I feel the handle may show wearmarks pretty easily because of the finish, so for me not the typical EDC knife, more like a collection knife.
This could have been a great knife if it were not for the thumb stud. I love the overall size and blade shape, but the thumb stud opening leaves a lot to be desired. I have a very difficult time opening the knife with one hand. It is nearly impossible. With a different opening mechanism, this would be a home run every day carry knife!
Great knife with a smooth, solid action. Been using mine on the daily since the first drop a bit over a year ago with zero issues. Using it mostly over others because the handle scales are fairly narrow and have a curve to them, making it more comfortable and less noticeable in the pocket.
Only downside I can think is that the tip is a little awkward, having used more traditional blade geometries for so long. The tip being shallow instead of pointed just means I had to switch things up a bit to make the best of it.
Also, it was only $99 when I bought it, so it appears there has been a price bump.
