I received the Ki4469A2. At least it is a Shoal, I guess.

Sellers.HillI just opened the box within the last hour. I haven't had much time to mess around with it. I have been carrying a Spyderco Positron Flipper, which is a much lighter knife. The Shoal in comparison has a good bit more heft to it and I will take some time to adjust to the weight.
A little pre-load on the flipper tab causes the blade to flip open easily. The lock up is nice and sturdy with no discernible play in the blade. The manufacturing seems to have been done well.
I'm not sure if I prefer the look of the one I received, Ki4469A2, or the one I thought I was going to receive, Ki4469A1.

cnsodomI think you got the better looking one, though it's just taste. And they're close, to my eye... I wish the "pre-load" wasn't needed. Mine flips fine if I flip it a few times and get used to what it needs... I have a couple other knives that flip much more authoritatively, "can't miss" even. I wonder if mine is a matter of variance between knives or if they're all similar. Also saw on a Nick Shabazz video where he took down a Kizer Gemini, and it had a hollow stop pin (!). I guess I'll consider taking mine apart and checking it, eventually... but scared of voiding the warranty...

ChoronzonThe flip definitely isn't as authoritative as an assisted open, but compared to my light little Positron, the Shoal opens with a bit of a snap. I'll admit that I've developed a habit of a bit of a wrist snap when opening the Positron. The washers around the bearings are bent and it takes a little extra wrist action to get it to flip open. I may not be the best person to judge the ease of opening.

cnsodomI have never tried the Positron... I love a lot of Spydercos, but haven't held a flipper of theirs. Wrist action makes the Kizer work for sure... but I expected better at this price point. Especially from reviews of the action on their (less expensive) Gemini. I have four flippers that have better action than this Shoal; two of them were perhaps more pricey, but two much less so. This is not counting assisted opening knives. Oh, and for some reason I wasn't counting the much smaller/lighter/cheaper Kershaw Fraxion, which flips like a dream! Thanks for your response.

cnsodomI think you lucked out. Not only did you receive a Shoal, it's the more interesting style. Given the choice, I think I would have opted for the 'A2. :-)
