Are these flat ground blades?

OmniseedI believe, but am not certain, the wharncliffe *is* a flat grind, but the clip-point is *not*. This youtube video seems to say as much for the former: https://youtu.be/LdmhaDVNm6o?t=1m55s
Plus, you can almost eyeball its flat-ground goodness in the video.

Which one are people getting A1 or A2.
Also what are the pros and cons for each?

LevelPulsethe "Wharncliffe" (more like a reversed tanto). I am a fan of this blade shape for general use and the drop-point seems to have a slight recurve, which I am not interested in.

CatfishJohnyeah, i didn't notice that slight recurve in there. Those are a pain in the arse to sharpen. I'll second the reverse tanto version for this.

Is the Tangram included in this drop or not? If not then cancel my order MD. The Tangram flipper is listed in the description as well as the heading of the description. Please advise ASAP.

Out, that's the problem (no offense) No one ever pushes them on these false advertisement issues, so they never bother improving

KavikYeah, that's a good point. If I liked the Kizer knife more than I do then I probably would have pushed them to get both knives but I honestly wasn't that disappointed to save the money for a different knife.

I have the Wharncliffe version of this and it weighs an oz more than the specs say here. Did they mill out the scales on this one? The zugang I just got is lighter than the original because they milled the scales on that one.

I know some older models have gotten lockbar inserts added later, so there's a chance the whole lineup is due for occasional improvement!

OmniseedYes, and I thought this model was going away too. I also thought that about the Roach, and the Mjolnir. Yet another run of all three, appears to have been made. All three great knives, and Kizer does need to pick some of their best models, and keep them coming year after year. A model people can depend on, to always be there. Like a Buck 110 so to speak, for Kizer. Now that they have so many models/collaborations, that they have perfectly produced. Everything has bearings, and lock-bar inserts. We are at nearly, peak knife. I'm in on this one. I let it get by me last year. That's not going to happen again.

Got my knife. The handle is surprisingly smooth and comfortable. The blade seems very nice and sharp. My only real complaints are with how it opens. It opens more reliably than a lot of other flippers do in my experience. I often have this issue where I get a knife half-open and then have to flick it. This knife has a very strong detent and flips open all the way 99% of the time. The bad part of this is that it takes a lot of force. I've bruised my index finger a bit from opening it a lot. I was also scraping the top of my finger on the aggressive jimping of the handle at the end of the open at the start. I mostly solved this by using the side of my finger instead of the tip to open it, but it still takes quite a bit of force. I'm not sure if this will get easier over time, or if I should be doing something to loosen it. For now I'll use it as it is. It feels very high quality and overall I'm happy with it.

I think mine is starting to loosen up after playing with it more, but it's definitely still stiffer than my Kwaiken.
SoundtoxinI agree it is one of the more difficult to deploy out of my collection.

Is there still a Tangram included? Which Tangram is it?

Day later and the Tangram is still listed in the specs as being included. Is MD honoring this?

iamjoshAccording to the only comment so far from an MD associate, nope. Curious how that would go over if I hit join now, while it's still there. I would expect to get what's advertised, it's not even a question. If I hadn't already bought too many this month....I do like the looks of this one with the modified "whatever" blade (i dont agree with the modified tanto label)

Thank you, nice review. This is a definite want, if I can find the funds. Unfortunately too many of my other drops have been landing on days my wife is off work. So I'm a bit over quota for that laser like, retina burning, stink-eye look I get everytime someething is delivered. 😎😁😂

Just curiosity, they say the tangram is a fixed blade in the knife specs, but its clearly a folding knife in the pics. Are we getting a flipper or fixed blade?
Maugust09I believe there’s two different drops, this one was from today’s email. The other drop from the other day is including a Tangram (fixed) neck knife.

EvshrugI mean, in this drop it says at the bottom a fixed blade tangram is included, and under that tangram flipper included... so are we actually getting 3 knives??

This, is a great deal! We have a typo though, in the Specs section of this Drop. This portion, should be removed > "Included Tangram Fixed Blade
  • Blade: 440c steel
  • Handle: G-10
  • Liner lock and safety lock
  • Blade length: 2.8 in (7 cm)
  • Overall length: 6.3 in (16 cm)
  • Weight: 7 oz (198 g)"

SteveMidwestActually it comes with a Tangram knife, just not the one they list in the specs (seems to be a copy paste from the other Kizer knife drop). Dang the MD staff are getting sloppy nowadays. Just going by the pic, it looks like the Tangram Amarillo TG3001A1 Everything else looks accurate except:
  • Acuto440 (Japanese modified 440)
  • Weight: 68g
I payed $27 for it before. It's a great flipper and pretty rust resistant. It's only $21 now: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076JC789C/
