Didn't the last Kizer, of similar size and equally intricate milling, and identical materials just go for half the price?
What am I missing on this one?
KavikI bought the last one, which is a great knife. The milling on this is definitely more intricate. Not sure if that only justifies the price difference though.
This one looks good but I will pass due to having similar knife already and the higher price.
KavikI actually want this one quite badly, but I just picked up a spydiechef (I highly recommend it) and have a chapparal on the way, so I can't really justify it.
BknguyenThe thing is phenomenal. Everything about it makes me happy. The only issue is that they slightly sacrificed ergos to make it thinner in the pocket, but I actually prefer that.
Also, spyderco aesthetics tend to grow on you. The Delica and Manix are always going to be ugly, but the more you handle them the more compelling they get....imo.
fhoodThe Raffir Noble one? There is a sliciness to that Chapparal that I’d forgotten... That’s because my love for thick bladestock interferes with the slicing function of these knives. Chapparal is well short of 2mm thickness! Welcome back to the World of Sliciness!
AxeguyThick blade stock is useful in hard use knives, but a nice thin blade with a good grind like the chaparral just cuts like a laser. Also those scales on the raffir nobel!
Anyone who's never had a thin blade should drop $15 on an opinel just to see what a slicey blade can do.
NotsurewhyibotherI think I got sidetracked in collector mode for a long time: loving the feel of a heavier blade; also, the tug of its momentum as they flip open; and (having big hands) I just end up in big flippers with thick stock. But the Chaparral turned me back to thinner blades and they are a joy to use...if the handles are big enough...!

BTW, I love the blue g10 Gent (on the left) but XL hands have a dilemma... (Yes, that prototype has blade stock of 1/2” / 12.7mm and it feels so ‘right’ yet slices fruit like a hammer... Not much heavy puncturing or splitting in my kitchen...)
Mrdash007I did drop it. On the carpet. No damage but I hate to think about what could have happened!
Strangely enough, this big knife fit my hand very well and the blade balance is great. Coupled with it’s ball-bearing pivot and tight tolerances, you have an utterly ridiculous knife with a smooth and easy action.
