I ordered this because I love to pressure cook, but don't like the bulk of most cookers. It was also a Kuhn Rikon, and that name means a lot in the world of consumer pressure cookers. This was a great deal, and it works terrifically well. I've used it a number of times for pork shoulder, soups, pasta (not worth the effort!), and chicken. It has performed well every time! It does save time, and I'd say was really worth the money.
no control and too much trial and error to nail a decent and consistent dish, if you like experimenting and ruining food while at it, this is your cooker. A stove top or electric pc do an infinite better job, save your money for one of those.
if you read the very hard to read fine print in the pressure cooker, you’ll see that it is rated for a maximum 900 watt machine. I have not yet figured out the right settings to get it to work. At 80% power, the food (rice) did not cook. At 90% power the safety valve popped out spewing starchy water all over the microwav. I may eventually figure out the secret but not yet.
tomboisdarcThat's because microwaves don't operate at partial power.
If you change the powerlevel to 5 out of 10, it will only cook your food 50% of the time. Not at half power. 10 seconds on, followed by 10 seconds 'off'. It keeps spinning, but it won't be microwaving your food at all during the 'off' cycle.
I ordered the red colour but it didn't come looking like the picture where it's fully red. I've only used it once so still early to tell if it works well.
Terrible users manual. I have used it only once because it has no specific information about the pressure. I might as well use my regular microwave vegetable cooker - it takes the same amount of time.
