Definitely get the Lamy Safari, one of the most functional pens out there. I’m not going to be joining this drop, but only because I already have fifteen of them, and use them regularly! I love Lamy pens, and have them from the Safari all the way up to the Studio (2 of them,), 2000, and Dialog 3. I’m a sucker for Lamy pens because they’re so reliable, and smooth writing. Here’s a bit of advice: go for the Extra-Fine nib, because the Fine is like Medium in other brands, especially Metropolitans and Pilots. The 1.1 mm caligraphy nibs are a great deal of fun! Please keep in mind that my comment about nib size relates to personal preference, but I believe that Lamy nibs tend to run a bit wide. However, here’s a piece of good advice: buy every Lamy that comes down the pike—you won’t be sorry. Lamy inks are of excellent quality, both in the bottle and the cartridge form. Pop in a cartridge, and when you screw the barrel into place, it will pierce the end of the cartridge and you’ll be ready to write. Or use the converter, and fill the pen with the ink of your choice. Don’t worry—the pen can handle it.
