Leica and Zeiss make the best optics out there....IMHO. Looks like a solid drop to me!

rayce444You can safely add Swarovsky and Nikon to the list.

JDM_BeebstaYes, but the Swarovski 8x25 CL, while excellent, is significantly larger than these (closer in size to the Leica 8x32), and Nikon no longer makes premium compact binoculars since they discontinued the titanium 7x15 High Grade.

fazalmajidThe initial comment was about quality optics and not about quality optics in compact binoculars. Nikon has the 10x25 Premier LX which is a compact binocular with quality optics. Not sure if I can put that into the premium class but at around USD 550 I would say it fits in. Is not HG quality when talking optics but is a solid purchase if you are into compact stuff. Swarovsky 8X25 CL is 109 x 101 mm while the curret Leica is 111 x 93 mm. Dont think it makes a lot of difference.

fazalmajidI have the Swarovski Habicht 10x25b and they are fantastic. The colors are perfect and they are as sharp as a tack. These Leica's are also fantastic.

JDM_BeebstaSCHOTT is the premier lens manufacturer in the world....not because I say so but because science does. When you're putting a multibillion dollar telescope in space and its lens is made by Schott it speaks to the quality of the lens systems. I shoot competitively, and most people who can afford it buy scopes with SCHOTT glass. Same thing with very high end microscopes, binoculars and the like.

rayce444But you are aware that Schott is a Zeiss company, right? Zeiss on some of its binoculars (Victory HT is one example) is stating that is using Schott optics.

JDM_BeebstaOf course....what's wrong with that? It's still made by SCHOTT. Is there a point you're attempting to make?
