uh... carbon fiber and "solid brass" ? the whole point of carbon fiber is to be lightweight... brass is literally the heaviest material used in pen bodies... Somebody didn't think this idea through.

moodsI like the idea of the blend. Weight of a brass body with carbon fiber aesthetic; I believe carbon fiber looks awesome, but prefer the substance of a heavier pen.

moodsI agree with the heavier pens. Even though im quite happy with my light pens.
I wish this had an option of a titanium nib.

aabdallaWhether you enjoy a heavy pen or not isn't really the point. Sure, CF looks cool... but I'm just saying it doesn't make sense from a practical stand point for a pen advertised as CF with "AERO" in the name to weigh 50grams. Also, a solid brass body means they just took a brass pipe, wrapped CF around it, and clear coated it. It's the laziest, cheapest, easiest way to make a "Carbon Fiber" pen. Brass is soft and easy, fast, cheap to machine and a wrap or two of bulk purchased CF sheet glued to the brass doesn't have to be made to any strength standards. That means they can use the cheapest crap as long as it looks like a CF weave. Which again defeats the whole appeal/purpose of CF as an exotic material... High strength to weight ratio.
When I pick up someone's "CF" trinket and realize it weighs a ton I think this guy just wants to look cool with "CF" gear, but doesn't really "get it" and wouldn't know a quality CF product if it slapped him in the face like a feather (because it's supposed to be lightweight, get it?)... :D Obviously there's more to it than JUST the mass, but that's the biggest sign.
I enjoy the look of my GSX-R1000, but I wouldn't bolt the fairings onto a Goldwing because I like to ride a heavy bike... I also love the look of a 1969 L88 corvette, but I'm not going to fill it with lead because I want it to drive like a pickup truck. ;)
All that to say: You should want your things to PERFORM not just APPEAR to be something... The whole thing just smells like a company who doesn't actually know anything about CF and just wants to jump on the bandwagon... kicking out a cheap pen that people who also don't know much about materials will gobble up because "CF is cool".

jsolaryou can buy Ti Bock nibs... it takes about 10 seconds to swap out a nib. Ti nibs generally do not perform as well as a quality steel or gold nib and also have some quirks of their own. The nib on this pen can be swapped out with a standard #5 or #6 nib (I can't tell from the photo if this one is a 5 or 6 without a better size reference, but I think it's a #5)

aabdallaAlso.... take a good look at the closeup photo that shows the nib and section... now look up at the barrel. Do you see that ridiculous seam going the length of the barrel on the CF wrap? That SCREAMS fake CF and poor quality. I'm pretty sure it is not actually carbon fiber. A faux CF Veneer. It looks like a pattern printed onto a sheet of aluminum or some similar then glued onto the pen barrel. You know those fancy metallic stickers that come stuck to gaming computer components?
If you want a true CF pen, get the Tombow 101 (lightweight) or if you want a heavy CF pen the Monteverde invincia deluxe and the Shaeffer Intensity (also sold Ferrari Branded) are real CF with brass barrels underneath and again, you can swap the nibs out for any standard nibs from Bock, Jowo, Goulet (uses jowo i believe), Schmidt, TWSBI, etc...

moods"Aero" has nothing to do with weight so I don't know what you're getting at here. It's short for AEROdynamic and is also commonly used to describe a sleek design aesthetic. Also, of course the CF is purely for aesthetics. Are you implying that the only time products should be using Cf is for being light weight?

"Aero" can be "short" for a number of things, but it is also used on it's own (not as an abbreviation) and it's commonly used to describe something that is lightweight. Examples: Aero Chocolate are aerated making it light and fluffy rather than dense and heavy like a normal chocolate "While lightweight and plastic, the XDJ-Aero is well constructed." (lightweight and uses wifi for portable DJ) Gigabyte Aero series laptops are "slim and lightweight" RS-Aero sailboat "is ultra-light weight and easy to handle." Delsey Luggage Helium Aero Expandable Spinner Trolley (ultra lightweight luggage) Macbook AIR... has air in the name because it is ultra lightweight... Aerolacrosse makes the "lightest handles on earth" carbon fiber lacrosse sticks.
I could go on.... Air, Aero, Aerospace, Aeronautics, etc... are all generally associated with things that are lightweight, and or very rigid/strong. Even "aerodynamic" things are commonly known to require the same features... Making something aerodynamic then intentionally making it as heavy as possible obviously doesn't make sense considering that the point of good aeros' is to make the thing faster or more efficient.
Again as I said, if you want a CF pen... then get a real CF pen. I named two other pens that use REAL CF and are also heavy for people who think heavy = quality... My points were very clear, this Levenger is not a quality product. By all means, buy it if you want poor to mediocre performance and imitation materials.
You can also head over to Etsy and find some hand made pens with CF barrels for around the same price that come with schmidt nibs.
