Howdy Everyone,
There has been a little confusion in the discussion today about this monitor.
We are offering the LG 34UC79G-B Monitor. This monitor is a 34" Curved Ultrawide running at 144Hz. There is a similar model number that gets pulled up when you do a google search, or search the best buy website directly.
The model on the best buy website is the 34UM69G-B. That monitor is a 34" Straight Panel running at 75Hz.
Cheers.
Just wanted to add my 2 cents as I've had this monitor quite a while now. As long as you understand it's 1080p before buying it, I'd recommend it if the specs are what you're looking for. After going to 144hz from 60, I just can't go back even with regular desktop work. It needed some serious adjustment to the colors out of the box but they came in line and look wonderful. The whole reason I wanted it was the IPS and high refresh rate. It's a bit dim with the motion blur reduction on is about my only complaint, but I guess you can mess with the black level in the settings for that. One more thing, the menus are a BREEZE to navigate and have a huge amount of options. More manufacturers need to make menus this easy to navigate. Works just dandy at native 144hz with nVidia and AMD on my end through displayport.
FrostbitesHello, how is the motion blur reduction feature?
Does it have a good effect on motion blur, at 144 FPS, on vs off? For example, does it increase legibility on the TestUFO map test? (https://www.testufo.com/#test=photo&photo=toronto-map.png&pps=600&pursuit=0&height=0)
I'm considering this monitor because I want the blacklight strobing feature but don't want the GSync+ULMB price tag of the 89G.
Thanks!
tangmanHello there, tangman. I pretty much immediately tested the motion blur reduction on and off with general windows use and gaming then went for the UFO. It does increase legibility, kinda looks surreal with MBR on to me. I am able to drag windows around faster and still read the contents with MBR on as well, which is similar to the test you linked. On the moving UFO one it makes a large difference, I am able to see much more detail on the UFO itself vs MBR off. The only major note I have is as I have mentioned, MBR on dims the screen quite a bit. It doesn't bother me, I'm in a darkened room anyway and usually up at night exclusively. It is something to consider, though.
Hope this helps, so far this has been a very good monitor for my use. I don't regret not getting a resolution I'd need boatloads of power to run maxed out on. The attached photo obviously doesn't do it justice, but there it is anyway. Good luck.
skhanna93This monitor is a gaming monitor running at 144hz. The other monitor is more of an Office style or Design monitor. While it it runs at 60Hz but has a higher resolution.
GreengooThis monitor goes up and down on Amazon. I had been watching it for months, and the price fluctuated from over $600 to the mid $500 range. It dropped to $499 for ONE DAY, and I snatched one up last September, and have been very happy with it.
fugglesI assure you that we are not lying about the MSRP. It appears that there has been a price drop on this monitor during the actual drop period. When we first launched this drop Amazon was at $599.99 and showing an MSRP of $699.99. Today Amazon dropped their price down to $527.99 and still has the MSRP listed at $699.99.
That being said it looks like LG dropped the pricing on this. Unfortunately this time around we are unable to get a better cost than what we already have. We always do our best to bring the best products and best deals to the community. We would never try to mislead the community or advertise false information on purpose.
We have adjusted the MSRP down to $599.99 as that is what the LG site now reflects. As far as the the $527 price on Amazon we are unfortunately not able to match that and suggest that if you are interested in the monitor to get it there. While we obviously do not want to loose any community members to other sites due to pricing but in this case we are already at the best price we can offer.
I'd love buying this but it won't ship to germany. So I have one thing to ask. Why is this being recommended to me? I can't buy it so why even bother sending me a mail with this advertised.
Because there are limitations on how mass mailing lists work. You're simply on massdrop's mass mailing list and whatever is advertised on those emails is geared towards the website's bigger population. I'm sure if MD had a much larger following in GER relative to other countries that would not be the case - You would see much more emails with drops delivering to your area.
Its simply because those emails are geared towards the highest common demomiator.
