Adding/Including Memories
I lost my dad last year (2023) and have been finding ways to include keepsakes/memories in my workstation. I've dabbled here and there with doing small woodworking projects and attempted a wrist rest from a piece of oak I picked up with him from my great uncles wood shop. I milled it to fit a 60% keyboard as I hadn't decided what keyboard I would be using it on and thought that's where most of my wrist would be in contact even typing on a full keyboard. I gave it a torched/burn appearance as I really was lost in what to do. I found an old shell casing from going hunting with my dad in my hunting pack and decided to imbed it into the end of the wrist rest so it would just have a little difference and a small story behind it as well. I have other things around my workstation from family and friends, but it just feels a little more special having worked on it and adding something small that has a memory for me to it. (Purple was my grandmothers favorite color and I have kinda now...

1440p cant run 144hz sadly only 120hz due to dp limitations. Which still isnt bad. But try to max everything out like i do with a 8700k @ 5ghz, 1080 ti 32gb ram, 850 evo and your definetly not getting near 144hz yet alone 100 on most modern titles. The graphical HP is just not there. Its going to take alot a few more generations of graphics cards before we get to that point period.
I get everyone wants 4k and 1440p. we all do. but if you want 144hz/gsync its not going to happen. If people realize you need the fps to use the 144hz effectively they would understand 1440p and 4k is not worth it at this time.
Its not a bad choice to still go with 1440p or 4k, just realize its limitations and make your choices accordingly. The price sucks for gsync i know that, but if you want it your gonna pay for it since it uses hardware instead of software like freesync (which freesync has some limitations gsync doesnt and you have ot have an AMD card not a nvidia).
Just do your research know what you want and purchase accordingly. I dont think we'll see any gsync price drops in the near future. usually a 200+ investment for it alone. I love my 1440p monitor but i miss 144hz and gsync. Half tempted to purchase one of these off amazon, but i think i'll wait for volta and purchase that first and see how the FPS looks after that before diving into a 1080p @144hz or 1440p @ 120hz. I run a 1440p dell u3415w now, (which i purchased for 1200 when the tech first released). I will say theres no leaving ultrawide once you go that route, but i do miss 144hz gsync alot in some fast paced games i play.
