Solid sound, some issues
The SK9Y was a significant upgrade from my previous sound bar, and I overall like the sound, but it is far from perfect. It has some odd glitches that make it annoying to use, including suddenly going quiet until you cycle inputs, dropping the connection to the woofer, and losing the HDMI in signal.

Welcome to Vikram's simple reviews. I'm not a certified audiophile, but I do enjoy good sound. This sounds quite nice, but if you're watching streaming video anyway you won't notice too much detail in the sound. It gets loud without being distorted. Bass isn't punchy, so don't expect massive depth in audio when you're watching BluRay Action movies. It's great for music and the Chromecast Audio support is great. Also, and I can't stress this enough, HDMI ARC support, it's the best and you shouldn't buy any audio equipment for your TV without it, if you don't have it in your life already, get it, thank the lord later. This has it, and it adds a star in my book.
Was it worth the price though? Not for me at least, but it's not like I'm unhappy, just a little disappointed.

Excellent so far, and a huge upgrade from the computer speakers I'd been using before. Setup with the app was a little finicky, but after connecting once I've had no trouble using it.
A quick note from a non-audiophile: I've seen complaints about the lack of bass on this unit. The computer speakers I had before actually had a potent subwoofer, and so I did notice a difference when I started using this unit. However, I've come to think of bass as being much like salt in cooking. Put in too much, and you're not actually tasting your food. The bass isn't big and thumpy like I'm used to, and as a result I can hear a whole soundscape I never heard before. Give it a chance and I think you'll like this unit.

This was a great deal and I got it about 3 weeks early so happy with mass drop. Still haven't hooked it up yet but it came in original lg package brand new ..

I bought this sound bar in Sept 2018 cause I was looking for the Dolby Atmos experience, 4K pass through, clear voice and immersive experience.
All of those have been accomplished with this sound bar. I'm coming from a Sony HT-ST7 which there was no 4K pass through and the vocals were muddy. All of those were accomplished with this sound bar.
Why the 3 out of 5 stars... because of the lack of bass from the subwoofer. It's not non-existent and there this, but just not to the level of the HT-ST7, even though the LG subwoofer says 500W.
Overall, I like the sound bar, but I'm going to sell it. I have the original box and all accessories. Send me a PM and I'd be happy to sell it for a deal.

Well balanced sound and the functionality it has with the LG B8 OLED using ARC HDMI interface makes using it simple. Totally worth the money. Make sure you are using the Atmos audio tracks on your Blu-Ray content or you are shorting yourself.

Sound is outstanding. Great bass response with no lag. The key is to have subwoofer away from your wireless router. Crip range of highs and lows. Best bang for your $$ at this price range. Display always on. This is by far the biggest flaw. LG needs to update this ASAP.
Netflix has a nice selection of ATMOS shows. Altered Carbon sound was amazing.

For the price, the sound is unbeatable. Very balanced, not oversaturated and the sub is not too bass heavy or large. I have it paired wirelessly with my 65“ LG TV and the sync is great for online, so-so for live TV. I guess it depends on the broadcast.

The sound quality was crisp. Deep bass response, clear mid range and highs. The stereo separation is also very impressive. I loved the sound and HATED the display. You cannot turn it off. The display dims, quite a bit, about 10 seconds after you make any input (like changing volume) but it is always on. I found it to be very distracting when watching anything. Older models had an option to turn this off, this unit does not. I sent an email to LG customer service and they said the option was removed to “ensure customers knew the unit was on”. It‘s a shame, the audio quality is outstanding.

Great sound bar. I’ve tried different sound bars in the past and have returned them due to cheap audio quality. I knew I was going to have to spend a little bit of money if I wanted a good product and the chance to purchase one of these on Mass Drop for reduced price was a micacle. The option to add wireless rear speakers is also very nice to give you true surround and keep the wife happy by not having to run wires .
