Dear Massdrop, if it says "limited edition" in big red letters on the packaging maybe put it in a box for shipping instead of an envelope so the packaging doesn't get crushed and mangled by the post office's mail masticating machines?

Victorinox normally uses X55CrMo14 in their blades. This is highly stainless and reasonably tough. With only 0.52 % carbon, it will not hold an edge for any length of time. I have not seen HRC figures for this, but the low 50s would be about the best expected. This is not a steel that I would want in an EDC unless I was going to meet with a TSA agent on my way to the plane. If you add $15 to the price of the most expensive, that amount will get you a Leatherman Skeletool. This has a blade of 420HC. I don't know if Leatherman does 420HC as well as Buck, but my Leatherman blades have served me well. I have a rather ancient Swiss Army Knife. (I also have what someone told me was a French Army Knife. I bot it at a flea market. The corkscrew works well, but I have had no use for the small white flag that folds out opposite from the corkscrew.) My SAK has been relegated to EDLID status because of several Leathermans that I own. If I collected these, I am sure that I would buy one. I find it attractive.

Well, I carry about 40 lbs of pocket stuff, or so it seems, so a few more ounces of multi tool is relatively unnoticeable. If I could only find a pocket shaped stainless steel toolbox with a refrigerator.... I've always liked Victorinox, though. I used to carry a Champ in my kit whenever I traveled. It's amazing how helpful it was. Of course, it's not really pocket friendly.

TGP389I own a couple multitools but find them left in my truck do to the weight but a SAK to supplement my full size EDC folder is something i am willing to carry everyday. Personally i dont carry anything over a few ounces most of the time so a small SAK doesnt add much weight. Ounces equal pounds but if that doesnt bother ya then i say go for it. Everyones preferences are different and none are right or wrong.

The pricing of these are different from the orchid version, it seems. At least for the Cadet and Pioneer upgrades

phoenixsongThe orchid was a fail. Look at the olive from 2017 and the blue from 2015 Those have done very well.

It looks like the red that is currently out. How can i tell the difference without a comparison shot?
Note to those looking at the SD. Unfortunately the Alox versions while slightly thinner lack the toothpick and tweezers of the standard SD models. It's something I didn't realize when I switched from regular SD to Alox. Bummed, but the Alox is still on my keychain.

STILL have not changed the pictures, even tho the pictures show a different nailfile than what you get atleast on the Cadet and the color is wrong. This is simply pictures of the regular red alox, not the Berry Red limited edition. UPDATE PLEASE!

No the darkness you see on the caplifter is just a reflection. The nailfile is a type of nailfile, bet with just groves in the metal instead of the prevvious unevenness stamped into the blade

FundinHmm, looks like they changed the file design last year for some models. I didn't realize that... I see the new design in some pictures but most still show the old one. I initially thought yours had a mistake of some sort.
I found one page that show pictures of the same model with both old and new file design! https://www.swissarmy.com/us/en/Products/Swiss-Army-Knives/Medium-Pocket-Knives/Cadet-Alox/p/0.2601.26
