Building off of its acclaimed inflatable solar lantern, the LuminAID PackLite Max and Hero 2-in-1 inflatable lanterns provide reliable light and power in any situation. Both feature a durable, water-resistant TPU construction that allows them to inflate to better diffuse light and flatten down when not in use. The lanterns can be charged via the solar panel or the integrated micro-USB input. There's a four-level LED battery indicator, so you’ll always know what’s left in the tank and when you need to charge it up. The Max has a built-in 2,000 mAh battery, while the Hero has a 4,000 mAh battery. Finally, based off of user feedback, the Hero automatically starts charging your device when plugged into the USB as opposed to having to press a button to activate charging.
Note: At checkout, choose the PackLite Max (base price) or the PackLite Hero (+ $20).
Founders Andrea Sreshta and Anna Stork met at Columbia University while pursuing their Master of Architecture degrees. When tasked to design a product that would support disaster relief, the women considered basic human needs beyond food, water, and shelter. They turned their attention to light, a critical resource in the dangerous nighttime conditions of Haiti’s tent cities. The LuminAID has been used in relief efforts following Hurricane Sandy, Typhoon Haiyan, and the earthquakes in Nepal. It’s also been adopted by outdoor enthusiasts, and was even featured on Shark Tank.
