It appears to be of good quality but after having mine for two weeks it lost suction last night on my way home and cost me the screen of my Samsung Galaxy S6. Very disappointed and I have zero trust in its function now. A $200. repair I'm looking at now

Streetglide08This is precisely why I would never mount with a suction only solution. :(

stoopid3Actually it's more than just suction cups. The base bonds to your dash via 3M foam tape which has not failed. The opposite (top side) of base has an almost melted gooey looking pad nearly as sticky as fly paper. The phone Holder foot has the same material shaped like a suction cup and then you press the two firmly together. If you could see the setup you would wonder how it ever failed but it did. The design looks great but take note: It can fail and cost you your phone!

PSUAthNot well. Keeps falling off of my dash - despite having a clean, dry surface.

The shipping to my country costs as much as the product. Adding that if I want to buy two items I have to pay the shipping for each time. Can you please work on the shipping because it's quiet expensive

was going to jump on this one but Amazon has it for $19.96... so I'm only saving $2.22 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ this might just be me but i would rather pay the extra $2 and go with Amazon.

yizkI ended up doing the same thing. The extra $2-3 was worth it to get it fast to me. Ordered Sunday received today; it does seem very nice. I'm hoping the suction cup will fit under my radio in the storage slot left by the aftermarket radio install. I'll try and report with pics later on how well it works.

EorlingasMay I ask where you are? Canada shipping is $15 which makes it not that bad, actually.

Like others, I just went to Amazon for this one. I give Massdrop credit for trying to offer a variety of items, but unfortunately a bigger company like Amazon can sometimes sway the buyers. $2 extra to get this in 2 days is just too good to pass up and having to wait for several weeks.
I speculate that the manufacturers are already operating on a really thin profit margin as it is, so they really can't cut a much better deal for an en masse buy.

UrVAITguyWhere Massdrop becomes interesting with these affordable gadgets, is for foreign, non-US buyers (at the very minimum, for Canadian buyers). Amazon.com does not ship much to Canada (and Amazon.ca offers a fraction of the products its US siblings sells), and when they do, the shipping is outrageous and ridiculous (like, $25 shipping for a $19.99 thingie). So these deals here on Massdrop, are often the best deal for Canadian buyers, actually.
Same for EDC folding knives; I have bought a lot here (check my drops, by visiting my profile) and even thought sometimes these knives were available for a few bucks more (or sometimes less!) via online specialized sites, their shipping methods and costs made those sellers waaaaayyyyy more expensive than Massdrop...
So there you go, for US buyers, YMMV, but for others, it's often the best deal. Who said everything revolves around the US, the interwebz give Massdrop a global reach!

BobrazWell said, Bobraz! I didn't realize Amazon charged out the backside for shipping to Canada. In your situation, the wait time outweighs the price I'm sure.

Wait.. does this actually stick to the top of dashboards? most dashboards are porous and no suction cup sticks.

Does this do well on a slightly textured dash? Also, does it leave any residue behind once removed?
Thanks in advance if you can answer those questions.

actually the product is even called "Macally Dashboard Phone Mount" and states "Simply attach it to the dashboard using the twist-and-lock suction cup" so I may be too pesimistic talking from experience with other suction cup based products. But maybe this is a better type suction cup.

tmanXXI bought this on a previous drop and use it in my Nissan Juke which has a slightly textured dash.
There’s a “suction cup” aspect to it, but the circular base is not a rubber suction cup like you’re thinking of. It’s more like a gel-based stickum that works on smooth and textured surfaces. The stickum is likely enough to hold it in place, and by turning the dial it adds suction to more firmly hold it where you stick it.
i removed mine yesterday to clean the dash with some Armor-all and no residue was left behind,
Hope this helps!
