Ok so what I'm seeing here I can get a 70% or whatever it is cherry blue keyboard, with backlighting for 64 dollars. That seems a bit strange as the closest ive see is 75 no backlighting. Anyone have this keyboard and can confirm backlighting is good and switched are not knockoffs?

Adam340I have two of these keyboards - silver with white backlight and Cherry MX browns, and one in black with blue/yellow backlight and Gateron Reds. LOVE these keyboards, although it taught me I prefer Cherry MX Reds over Gateron Reds. I've been happy with the lighting, although there's not a lot of dimming choices. Be forewarned, the backlighting goes into powersave mode (they shut off) if you don't type for a certain amount of time, but they light up once you start typing again. Doesn't really bug me, but YMMV.
MassDrop will send you a keyboard with the type of switch you choose at checkout. I've always found MassDrop trustworthy - you get what they say you'll get. If you look at this (or any mechanical keyboard) elsewhere, and it just says "blue switches," I can promise they aren't real Cherry MX, or even Gaterons (they're likely Outemu switches). If you get one that's advertised as Cherry MX [Red, Blue, etc.], you can generally trust the keyboard to have real Cherry MX switches - although for a little known brand, wouldn't hurt to pop off a keycap and check!
I really do adore these keyboards. Compact, standard bottom row, exposed, aluminum faceplate, and inexpensive! I also love that I can rest one directly over the palm rest/touchpad of my 17.3 MSI gaming laptop and it fits perfectly. Get one, they're great!

kittykatmaxThanks for the reply, I have cherry reds in my gaming keyboard but I've always wanted blues to type school stuff with. I've been searching around for just a basic one for under 80 and I was just surprised there was one so cheap with backlighting. I was just worried about factory seconds or bad backlighting or whatever. Glad to hear they are good quality

kittykatmaxQuick question - for the one you have in black, does it have white or black key caps?

Adam340Some people complain about a little "wiggle" in the keys, but I haven't found it a problem. For the money, it's a great little keyboard and I've had zero regrets. MassDrop's prices are because they make arrangements with the manufacturer based on meeting a certain quantity, not because the merchandise is less than optimal. Can you get a better quality keyboard if you spend more? Sure. Just depends on if it's worth it to you.
You can actually pick up variations of this keyboard for $40 on Amazon (normal doubleshot keycaps, not typewriter), but they come with Outemu switches. I'd rather pay the extra for shipping on Massdrop to get Gateron switches - or better yet (for my tastes) spend the extra on top of that for real Cherry MX switches.
