Does anyone know the size of the straps that have buckles? I'd be looking to upgrade the buckles to Austri-Alpin cobras right away (I can't resist). It looks like the main shoulder strap is 2" and the smaller one is 1"? I don't see dimensions on the county comm website either.

Bobby9265The strap widths you guessed are correct. The main strap is 2"; the small strap is 1".

MrMacheteRIP my wallet. I think I'm going to go with the ITW Polymer GT dual adjustable for the 2" buckle. I can pop out the slide lock and feed that through the existing loop without having to resew it. And then I'll probably get a 1" AA Cobra for the 1" buckle. Thanks!

Bobby9265Are the slide locks easy to take off and reinstall? I'd like to get a 1" and 2" adjustable and put them in, just don't know if it's the best option

TheKlampsYes, they are very easy to pop off and back on. It's my go-to strategy for replacing a buckle if one side of the strap has a sewn loop. I just cut off the old buckle and thread the slide lock through, then pop it back on.
Edit: I've already done it for this bag. The 2" ITW Polymer GT dual adjustable worked great for the big main strap buckle.

Bobby9265Awesome thanks! I got the adjustable aa cobra buckles for both the 1" and 2". Can't wait to slap them on! Do you need to pry the lock bar out or is it a fairly straight forward process?

TheKlampsUh oh, we were talking about different buckles. I thought you knew I was talking about the ITW Polymer GT that I mentioned in my comment. The AA cobras don't come out.

Bobby9265Aahh... Welp, I'm seeing them! Lol. I suppose either way I would have had to do the 1" anyway, guess I better brush up on my needle skills

TheKlampsYeah, I used an AA cobra for the 1" and had to resew it. For the 2" it would have been more of a pain (do you have a heavy duty sewing machine?) but once you do it you'll have a much nicer bag! I'll be jealous!

Bobby9265No heavy duty, just patience lol. Is it okay that I got both buckles as adjustable? Both male and female ends

TheKlampsPatience as in doing it by hand? I mention it because your machine might not be able to get through the heavy fabric and strap. You need a large needle and a machine that can push it, or to do it by hand (get a thimble for extra oomph). If you sew a new loop around one end you won't be able to utilize the adjust-ability of that end. But theoretically you could just leave both ends as free straps and it would be double adjustable! I'm not sure how well that would work though. You could try it before you sew the loop shut.
If you decide to sew the loop again I would sew it around the black part of the buckle, leaving the adjustable part to move freely, just like it wasn't there.

Bobby9265Thanks for the help. Having a hard time visualizing it right now lol, but I'm sure it'll be easier to figure out once I get the bag and buckles in
