This would be a good deal if they picked up shipping. Same product is available on Prime for $67.
Sorry if this is poor form by pointing this out, but I feel it's worth providing complete information and encouraging Massdrop to do as much as possible for its members.

SoundbearIt's good form to tell people that there's a better deal elsewhere here in the comments. That's the first thing I check for on every drop I'm interested in. So thanks!
But don't expect MD to start advertising that there are better deals on what they're selling elsewhere...

SoundbearNot at all. Considering the shipping and tax bring this drop to $66.90 for me, you do every Massdrop user a favor by posting these up.

vosechuItalian Amazon always has these for really low prices. I got mine some time ago for ~$30. Right now they are $46. So this is a good deal for people in USA, not so much for the rest of us.

Anyone own one of these? I don't entirely trust the Amazon reviews these days. These seem like a total pain to clean.

FoolthI don't have this exact one, but it's a clone of a common design. Cleaning isn't terrible, but does require ~15 minutes and a couple basic tools (screwdriver, brush, some need a socket or nut driver, some toothpicks or skewers, and compressed air can be handy) . The machine can't be submerged or washed with water & soap--it'll rust.
Cleanup is basically taking the sides off, removing some clips that hold guards in place, and then picking and brushing all the bits of dough out. If your dough is fairly dry it goes quickly, but if your dough was at all sticky it takes some time (I let it dry then clean it up, seems to be much easier). I like to make 12+ servings at a time which makes setup and cleanup much more worthwhile.
I use mine mostly for dryer noodles, which still need a lot of manual kneading before the machine can handle them. Cheap/flimsy machines break pretty fast and if my current one dies I'll probably try the Philips electric machine since it does way more work.

This is confusing....what exactly comes with the machine? As you click on what normally additions, the cost reduces instead of increasing...if you get three attachments and want the drying rack, I clicked on the drying rack and it reduced the price on the total......I'm having a brain freeze, I guess. can someone explain this?

LadyDiThe machine comes with attachments to make fettucine, lasagna, and tagliolini. The "reduced" prices are for the individual accessories only without the actual machine. Choose "Add another order" for each accessory you want.

Can someone confirm if the base model here is able to make lasagna? The drop says it can make  fettucine, lasagna, and tagliolini, so I was expecting either a lasagna attachment or a separate lasagna roller/cutter. Mine didn't come with anything like that.

It's about $66 on Amazon right now with Prime shipping. Not necessarily better unless you need to make pasta before August but just wanted to share

I have one that I bought a few years back and it is just like new. I love it! Just make sure you do not get it wet. (Always clean it with a dry brush and cloth after use). The basic pasta machine can make flat sheets of pasta (which you can then use for lasagna, ravioli, etc) or you can then run the sheets of pasta through the cutting atachment (included) for making tagliatelle or capellini. Always run the dough through the rollers using the higher numbers (thicker pasta) and then reducing the number by one and rolling again, and repeating until you get to about one or zero (very this pasta similar to the thickness you get in fine restaurants . I do not have any of the other optional attachments. The easiest and best recipe I have found for the basic dough is below and you absolutely need double zero italian white flower! After you prepare the pasta always make sure you lighty dust it with flower (so it won’t stick onto itself) and cover with a cloth so the pasta does not dry. Boil in salted water for about 2 or 3 minutes. Add you favorite sauce. https://youtu.be/ESz55eORW44 Enjoy it.

With the delay, is this still possible to be delivered by Christmas?

tyler256An update on this order would be nice. Did they run out of stock or something? Do you expect this order to actually be fulfilled? If so, do you have a rough estimate as to when? Generally I feel like a 2+ week delay merits a little more explanation than "There is an unexpected delay."
