Over the last couple years, we’ve been fortunate enough to bring the mech keys community an extensive selection of custom keyboards—ones that you can only get here on Massdrop. But those keyboards, while beloved by the community, only come around so often, in limited quantities Read More
Hey everyone,
Welcome to another round of the Keyboard Re-Store. This will be launching on Saturday, December 15 at 6 am P.T.
It will be similar to the Keyboard Re-Stores of the past in that we’ll be limiting the drop to 2 keyboards per user initially. We will open it up to more quantities on Sunday and onwards if there is demand for it. This is intended to give everyone a chance to grab something they’d like and not have everything disappear right away.
Some notes about the various keyboards we are selling:
- Planck - These are the Rev5 and prior Plancks, which means they do not have Kaihua hot swap sockets on the PCB. This means you will have to solder switches for the kits. Note that switches are not included, but we do have a few switch drops going on right now including the Halos switches (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-halo-switch-pack) which are available to ship immediately if you don’t want to wait.
- Preonic - These are units prior to Rev3 for the Preonic. So similar to the Planck, it will not have hot swap sockets on the PCB nor does it ship with switches.
- Planck Light - These were from the first run of the Planck Light. It will ship with an ISP flasher device in order for everyone to reprogram their Planck Light as needed.
- Tokyo60 - these are Season 1 Tokyo60 units.
- WhiteFox / Z70 - these were from prior runs and quantities are very limited. They do have switches with the kits.
We are excited to make these types of drops more regular and we hope everyone enjoys the holidays with their friends and family.
terribly un-informative. im very new to the custom keyboard thing and i go to order the planck green kit and i cant get info on what the key caps are or the really much else. i shouldn't have to go do a ton of googling on what i'm ordering to even get an idea of what anything looks like
Pawn63295I get it as well. I've been doing this a few years and still have to google some of the terminology. Mabey one day they could incorporate there own dictionary of a sort to label/picture every they sell and the abbreviations.
This is just confusing.. I am looking to get my first 75% keyboard. I wish they would group them all together rather than just give us a big list and ask us to look it up..
edgemechI grabbed one just because I know I want it but I can’t find anything on the Rev2 Preonic. All preonic kit links take me to the newest drop (Rev3). some of the other kit here stated the switc type so my guess is no but who knows.
CyphreFor awhile I tried clicking on pictures or product names, because you know...this is the internet? I should have known this was boilerplate. Why should they make links as they change the pictures? Just kidding, I enjoy poking massdrop. Those wtf moments while trying to spend money I don't have on things I don't need.
deaconblue42Needs more upvotes - very confusing bundling strategy.. pretty sure that was never offered eh? Some clarification from @YanboWu on keycap compatibility in Matias kits would be great.
deaconblue42Half a second before realizing what was going on I thought I could have Mitos Canvas on my Matias Quiet Click in office. This is nothing but misleading. Thanks @deaconblue42 for clarification.

LOL wat? Surely it would be easier for all of us if you'd link to the keyboard you're offering.
