Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I got this in the last drop at the end of 2015. I've been so busy, I only recently had a chance to set it up. And it's now the beginning of October, 2016.
Well, not according to plan. When I plugged everything in, all I heard was a loud oscillation, about 3 Hz, pumping through the phones. Yikes! This was regardless of the input, or whether any source was plugged in or not.
I was bummed.
But realizing that so much of this amp relies on Op-Amps, I cracked it open to see if I could troubleshoot it.
Well, haha, one of the Op-Amps was installed backwards. It wasn't the amplifier Op-Amps or anything on the DAC, but rather a single 8 pin Op-Amp that's probably in the power regulation circuit.
I installed it the right way, and everything worked. Thank goodness!
I'm a little ambivalent about the O2 amp.
On one hand, the sound of the amp is a little too clean and neutral for my taste. I'd rather get a Gustard H10, which is a rich, complex sounding amp, and pay a little extra for an outboard DAC for a more musical experience. Of course this is significantly more pricey, but as a long term solution, it makes more sense for my tastes.
On the other hand, the O2 sounds satisfying enough, and has a really easy, no-fuss kind of vibe to it. Just plug in and get very solid performance from it.
It's the latter that is why I keep it around. In fact, it's the amp I keep in my living room. Just in case any guests want to plug in their source and listen to music.
So I use it as a knock about casual amp that I'm not too worried about if it gets scuffed up a bit.
Sometimes it's good to have a simple fuss free rig that allows you easy casual listening, and this is a good heart for that kind of rig.
