How much of an upgrade would this be compared to the Schiit Fulla 2… I mean I already purchased this one but just wondering what I’d be expecting :) probably return the Fulla 2 since it’s still with in the 15 day return period, although I liked it a lot

flasewI like the character of Grace Design's DACs... DACs are more about implementation rather than raw 'sound quality upgrade' nowadays and it only falls on preference alone. The SDAC maintain a really smooth vocal section whilst going full-on transparent, which I like over the fulla. Again, this does not imply that the fulla is inferior/worse. Imo both are great

Raider275Agree the SDAC is perfect at its price. Insane value.

flasewIn general, this will offer more power as it's not powered off USB. The O2 uses wall power, even if the SDAC is powered via USB. The O2 will be able to drive more headphones much louder than the Fulla 2. I am using my O2+SDAC to push T50's as I type this, and idk if I got a nice pair or what, but I'm barely cresting 11 o clock and they're loud enough for me. Though to be fair, I'm in a pretty quiet room.
Edit: I also personally really like the SDAC's implementation of the AK4452 over almost every AK4490 implementation I've heard. I don't know exactly why? Maybe it just sounds more musical to me? Not that the 4490's I've heard sound bad, or like... clinical. They're just, maybe slightly less warm? Sound is really subjective. To my ears though, the SDAC is really easy to listen to, and I've had it plugged into my Aune X7s for musical enjoyment over every other DAC I own, which isn't many (4, I think), but I prefer the sound of the SDAC enough to get the balanced one, so I hope that says a lot.

TaylorDThanks for the detailed reply:) The headphones I have are the HD58X, K7XX and Beyer‘s DT1350 80ohm. I guess the K7XX is a little hard for Fulla but the rest are actually not bad. And I really apperciate ur comment on the AKM4452, can‘t wait to try it out!

flasewGood luck! Worst case scenario, you return it, amirite?
Lol. I love this little combo with the 6XX and the 58X tbh. Though, I love those headphones in general.
Once you get it, report back and let us know what you think!

TaylorDI don't think Massdrop allows return, but I'm pretty sure I'll keep it :) I'll definitely get back when I get it.
A side question, how would you compare your 6XX to the 58X? I love my 58X (in fact prefer it to the K7XX on the Fulla 2), but still, the HD6XX(650) is just so iconic and I can't stop thinking about getting one...

flasewWell, If you really want one, snag it.
I personally feel like the 6XX has more bass impact than the 58X and to me, the 6XX feels more resolving, but don't ask me to quantify. That said, I listen to the 6XX pretty infrequently. I don't feel bad taking the 58X to work, as opposed to the 200 dollar 6XX...
But I personally like both and I don't think that one is necessarily better than the other. However, I think that 58X is a great starter, but the 6XX will scale more with upstream gear.

TaylorDI see. I'll have to decide between the 6XX and ER4SR (and perhaps Sony's WH1000XM3) for the last headphone of 2018. Need some gear for outdoor usage 😂

TaylorDSo, I received these on Wednesday and finally got some time to try it out. I was surprised... The clarity of the O2+SDAC is just... fantastic. I used to be believe that DAC/AMPs can't make that much of a difference but listening to my K7XX + O2+SDAC compared to the Fulla 2, I'd say it's an audible improvement; and it's a world's difference compared to my Mac's 3.5mm output. The upper-range instruments become more lively, and the mid-range vocals are cleaner (sorry for not having more accurate words...). Haven't tried it with my 58X yet but I'll definitely do it later in the weekend. On the other hand, it's not very forgiving for some bad recordings, which can be good or bad... Overall really satisfied with this little unit:)

flasewThat's real good to hear man, I'm glad you';re enjoying it. But your experience is similar to mine. It's worlds better then the onboard sound card in any laptop I've used. Clearer, more resolving of small detail;s, and to my ears the soundstage, the separation between instruments is wider and improved over the onboard.
I wholly agree though, the SDAC sounds very, well, clean. But yeah m,an, no problems. Most of us are still learning, and I'm by no means an expert, Just a beginner who's starting to understand what his ears like. :)
