Well..with custom tax plus vat it's gonna be 300 €. How about I get the 600 for 289 shipped next day with Amazon? Will I miss something other than some weight in the lower end of the spectrum?

gianni.difranciaThey have a fairly different sound, I'm pretty sure the 600s are more neutral/reference.

gianni.difranciaThe 600 are beautiful sounding cans. Some, like me, enjoy them more than the 650 for many kinds of music. Just get a very powerful tube headphone amp to drive them. Get 10x the power you think you'll need. Not to drive them louder, to control them. These cans and the 650 too get sloppy under low power. You want an amp that is clean, fast, powerful and a bit on the mellow side, and you will be singing the praises of your 600s.

gianni.difranciaMaybe a little bass and warmth. On blind testing it would be hard to notice the difference if you don't know the both headphones very well. I kinda prefer HD600, tough, it is a little more neutral. :)

PACougSo, what price range are we talking about here? I've got a Massdrop Centrance dacport slim, and I'm pretty sure it's not enough....any name for a good quality/price tube amp?

gianni.difranciaI'm actually happy with the SS amp I used to power my HD580s before I got my 600s. It's an oldie but a goodie, a Creek OBH-11 with the big power supply. Using a decent interconnect it pretty much gets out of the way and lets your source music shine. Used examples can be had all over the place for beer money and although you won't be playing your Senns as loud as some amps can go you will find outstanding speed, coherent sound across the spectrum, tight, solid bass control and with a decent interconnect, a taming of the slight harshness the 600 and 650 are known for if your equipment isn't up to snuff.
A tube amp is still on my bucket list. The setup I run is budget hi fi at its best.
Your DACPort Slim is perfect in a portable application with all manner of in-ear monitors and can certainly give you sound out of bigger cans. But open back Sennheisers are dedicated at-home headphones that want plugged-in power. I have a little home built headphone amp in an Altoids tin that uses 2 9-volt batteries, that does a decent portable job with Sennheisers.
But it can't give me good dynamic punch or volume. They are power hungry. Going back home to the Creek is always a massive upgrade.
