Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Hey all,
First, a big thanks to the community for the amazing response toward the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX.
To continue the chain of good news on this drop, we have been able to secure 10,000 additional serialized units as part of the second run. Furthermore, we are working to get another 3,500 units confirmed.
Drop Details Pricing is the same: $199.99 with free shipping to the US and $15 shipping per unit internationally. The drop will begin on Monday, July 10 at 6 a.m. PT and will continue until July 30 or until the available units sell out. A total of 10,000 units will be available, and as this is a continuation of the second run order that started in June, the drop counter will start at 11,500 and run to 21,500.
Shipping The additional 10,000 units will have the same expected ship date (December 18) as the rest of the second run.
A couple of people have asked if it is possible to speed up the production, given the obvious demand. I have copied Will’s response below to a similar question. As a summary, the bottleneck is a result of the lead time in sourcing components from part suppliers by Sennheiser further up the supply chain. That said, Sennheiser and our Logistics team here are continuing to work to deliver the HD 6XX as soon as possible.
Will’s post: “Ha, thanks for your post. I wish it was as simple as getting 500 more people at their facility in Ireland, but the time comes from further up the supply chain. The assembly step only takes a couple weeks, it's the parts suppliers that cause the long lead times (remember how replacement cables took six months?)
For reference, the first run took as long to make, we just offered them to the community later in the process. This wait is the same as that wait, but now you know you're waiting vs blissful ignorance. It's six of one, half a dozen of the other in objective terms, but that's not how it feels as a consumer.” (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-sennheiser-hd6xx/talk/1735458)
Final Words All this wouldn’t be possible without the community’s response to the second run of the HD 6XX and we thank you all for it. Sennheiser revisited their production schedule as a result of the impact of your participation in the previous drop. This is a big achievement and the Massdrop community should be proud of it. As we mentioned earlier, we are working on securing another 3,500 units and will get back to everyone with an update as soon as we have confirmation.

I kept missing out...Not this time!
Have secured my pair of HD6XX. Just hope they ship a little earlier but worth the wait!!
Thumbs up!
I wonder what is the manufacturing price of the HD650 compare to the HD6XX... Anyways, I hope they still go through some somewhat decent testing.
Regarding MD vs NV shipping, I think you should wait on getting logistics updates before making that decision. You can always request our Community Support team for an update close to shipping time.
kunalkumar could you clear this up: what is the delivery schedule for the second drop versus this third drop?
I am looking forward to these in 6 months, just in time for Xmas. These are always being used as a point of reference when comparing to other headphones because of their popularity. Thank you for bringing them at a good price point which doesn't offend.
These are still being manufactured in Ireland where the HD650s are made. I am sure components come from other sources, but final assembly and QC is in Ireland. So the failure rate should be the same as normal production HD650s.
As for AKG, I too, have seen many mentions of internal cabling issues mostly related to soldering. They are manufactured in China. So the QC is out of AKG's direct oversight. I ordered those anyway because re-soldering a cable joint is no big deal to me. When I get mine later this month, I plan to inspect the solder joints first thing.

If you set up a logistics office in the EU then you could receive items manufactured in the EU to that facility and forward the items for the US onto the US logistics center. I don't know how many customers you currently have in the EU but I often see items on Massdrop that are manufactured in the EU. When I add the VAT, Import duty and handling tax onto the price it becomes too expensive and not worth buying.
Customers in the US are getting a great deal but potential customers in the EU are not. I know of no one in the UK who has even heard of Massdrop and yet I think if you removed the tax issues you would get many many customers here. If I understand it correctly the EU has double the population of the US and yet you are ignoring that market. In fact, worse than ignoring it, you are making it impossible to buy from you.
The EU also has a very diverse population in terms of salaries and if you choose the right location it would cost you much less to site a logistics center here than you would expect.
At the very least I am surprised that you don't attend Canjam London with a stand offering Massdrop deals.
If Massdrop wants to ignore a population twice the size of the US then it is up to them. But hardly anyone in the EU is ever going to buy from Massdrop with the current situation. I did not say it was simple but every other large online retailer does it.
The issue is not the same for Asia. The EU is one large economic region with no trade barriers and has double the population of the US. The same logic applies to China because of it's size. It does not apply to the rest of Asia. It is basic economics. Massdrop has a great business model but if it ignores the situation someone else will take that model and do it for the EU.

wait, you mean you just pick up any headphone in a cheap store, and slap your badge and start selling it? no? then its your responsibility then.
40% of youth unemployment lmao.

I've been missing out on previous opportunities, I would really hate to let this opportunity slip away again, i have been waiting so long to get my hands on those masterful headphones.
please make them available in Asia, I'm sure I'm not the only one in Asia craving so bad for these headphones.
Thank you in advance.
Is the handling and shipping cost outside the states the same for all the other international included countries? If I'm not mistaken, i have noticed noticed the fee would be roughly 15 USD.
Also, how can I make sure there still headphones available for pre-ordering? I'm new to the drop so I'm not entirely sure, I noticed there are over 14k orders so far, please tell me I can still get order one HD6xx for myself.
I'm figuring how to purchase it thru the join drop but there isn't any option to add the international shipping $15 & also get it forward to my Singapore address?
Thank you.
Edit: The drop is restricted to the countries mentioned because of the Sennheiser distribution agreements that are already in place.
How did you get it shipped to india?, can you help me with some details. I want to ship a 6xx.
If big business had to pay to import they wouldn't bother outsourcing, because they'd lose all the profit margins on the way back in.
I guess you can't tell me how many import fees and taxes I would need to pay to get it in Belgium?
Edit: phrasing
Appreciate your kind and prompt feedback.
Thank you.
BR, Wong C.K.
EDIT: a word
That being said, they will be trying to get it shipped out much sooner but it's all up to the companies that Sennheiser sources parts from. They got my Massdrop x JBL LSR30X speakers out on July 20th while the estimated was August 10th which is pretty great so I have reason to believe they'll actually try if it's possible.
It's human nature to say nothing when we get what we expect, but to complain when events fall short of our expectations. If potential purchases are not occurring because of what people perceive as "many" negative reviews in the forums, it could even be good for Massdrop's bottom line to show that on the contrary, the *rate* of dissatisfaction is very low -- if that is in fact the case.
P.S. Just in case, please check your spam folder. We've had occurrences of community members getting replies going to their spam folders.
I bought mine off Amazon at $315. But I will be moving at the end of the year and of course that would make taking shipment a bit tricky, moving has enough headaches that I didn't really want another one.
If I was sure I'd be in the same spot 6+ months later and didn't actually need anything until then, I think $200 is an amazing deal. The 6 month time is a bit high but that's the price to pay for such an incredible bargain. You basically lock in a great deal for the holidays, whereas you're never guaranteed to get a deal like this around the holidays even if it's available, since they tend to sell out so fast.
Or were you planning on selling them?
I own the HD580, HD600 and now the HD6XX. I haven't noticed a difference in quality apart from the two originals' textured looks and smoother surfaces. My 6XX feels well built.
