Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

When I first received my package I was very happy with the purchase and really loved these headphones. As time went by and I started listening to these more , I realised that there was rattling on the right hand side driver, at lower frequencies with mid to high volume (at about 12 o' clock on my NFB 11.28 with high gain). I really wanted to sort out the problem myself given that I'm in South Africa and dreaded having to go through the hassle of an RMA. I read up online and most suggestions regarding rattling on 600s/650s was to check if any stray hairs may have been lodged in the driver enclosure. I popped off the earpad and foam but couldn't really see any hairs or dirt, I blew over the driver in any case just to see if anything would dislodge, but had no luck. I repeated different variations of the above process for a couple of hours with no luck and I eventually gave up. So today I thought I'd give it another try, bought some compressed air so I could blow everything out properly, I still had no luck. I then watched this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBpic9jbjzs and removed the grille in order to see if I could notice anything unsual. I then saw what appeared to be glue on the side of the driver. I loosened two of the clips on the driver so I could remove the glue, but the rattle reamined. I then decided to go all in and remove the entire driver, and that's when I found this on the top right of the driver:
It appears to be a foam type of material that must've been left there during the assembly process, which is disappointing considering these headphones carry the Sennheiser brand. Once I carefully removed it using tweezers, the rattle was gone and I could finally enjoy my headphones. Just disappointing that I needed to go though this process with a practically brand new product, and potentially risk causing other damage.
My headband has a metal flake that probably got on the paint during manufacturing, cant remove it without damaging the paint.
The trim is not smooth, but rather jagged.
The right hinge of the head band where the metal band slips into has a deep nick on it.
Seems likely that they rushed production causing all these imperfections.
Doubt I would be able to get mass drop to exchange headphones for a pristine condition headphone, the audio quality is not affected at all so I'm going to keep it.
Its just the visual imperfections that makes me kind of sad for a new item as I get OCD over it.
