Regarding the cable... it's advertised as being six feet, yet here I am, a 5'6" guy, standing up while wearing the 6XX's with the end of the cable not even touching the floor. I honestly don't mind the short cable for when I'm, say, just lounging around the house listening to music from my phone, but seeing as my headphones connect to my desktop computer's rear I/O, it's quite troublesome without modification. I just opted for the cheap solution of getting a 3.5mm extension cable to make my desk situation viable.
Apart from the fact that there's quite a bit of clamping force at the moment (which I expect will loosen in due time), this is my only real complaint about the headphones. I'm switching from Beyerdynamic DT 880's, and the difference is very noticeable, particularly in the balancing of the high end (which is done far better on the 6XX's). Quite surprisingly, I had EQ'd my DT 880's very near to the response of the 650's. Not sure why some people feel that the tone is "veiled"; there's plenty of sparkle and treble detail to my ears. Comfort-wise, after a bit of break-in, I feel that the 6XX's will also excel. I'm already preferring the oval shape of the driver housings (my terminology is admittedly a bit rough) to the circular housings of the DT 880's.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased that I could get such audio perfection for $200, and I'm even more pleased that I could offer a solution to friends thinking about buying Beats. ;)
