So, i know i'm so fucking late with this headset, but i really wanted it to use for music and gaming...... I looked for the 650's but in my country they are over 300 euros and i don't want to spent that much money on a headphone. Can anyone give me a good recommendation for gaming HEADPHONES (not headsets they're shit)?

Thanks for the reply, i was looking myself into these headphones: Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-AD700X-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B009S332TQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483886397&sr=8-1&keywords=Audio-Technica+ATH-AD700X I also saw the headphones you directed me to, and i think the the AD700X is better right?

StefRobbeI dont like HD598SE to me they start breaking up before they even start to get loud. Yeah the bass is tight but I think the Phillips SHP9500 is completely superior(it doesnt have the bass especially with stock pads and they dont look good either but you can get them on deal for 60) they have way better midrange and they amp more than the HD598SE. The HD598SE is completely inferior to the HD600 and HD650 they are not even close. There are supposedly mod cups you can add to the 9500s to make them semi closed and if you put good pads on like alpha pads or the likes the bass gets allot louder. I plan on trying these mods within the next 6 months but I just found the chinese iem threads on head-fi and those have my attention right now(monks sucked me into the chinese iem world which is probably hitting its initial golden period right now).

iCeOL8TRAmnesiaDo you think the Philips SHP9500 can also be used for gaming?

StefRobbe+1 for the Sennheiser HD598 for FPS gaming. I couldn't believe how much detail I was missing (in games) before I got my pair. Music is pretty decent through them, too, IMO.
From what I've read other people are pretty high on the AKG 7XX, as well.

StefRobbeI can't say as I haven't heard the ATH-AD900X.
Here is a link comparing them to the HD598's, though.

mistercanoeheadath-ad900x and akg k7XX are good for gaming the sennheisers are ok but I regret buying hd598se for 70 bucks or whatever I paid. They sound good right to when they start to get loud then they crack up. They have very limited amping ability they give you a taste then they go to crap. SHP9500(these are more for music than anything) isnt a huge soundstage like the first 2 I listed here so not really for gaming per se. Gaming is all about big accurate soundstage any headphone good at classical symphonies is good at gaming. Thats the 900x and k7xx exactly. HD598SE is for modern music but it just gives you enough of a taste that you break down and buy hd600 and hd650 its one of those entry headphones that leaves you wanting more so you double buy to get the full meal.

StefRobbeDepends on what games you play, I own an ad700 and have been using it for 5+yrs. They are awesome and the soudstage is very wide. If you play fps games, the positioning on these cans cant be beat. I mainly play csgo thus positioning is a key advantage.

StefRobbeAnother vote here for the SHP9500 - I use them as my gaming cans along with a V-Moda Boom Mic. Great set, SUPER comfortable, and can be had for $100 USD (including adding on the Boom mic) from Amazon/Newegg when the cans go on sale (regularly).

LOL Cark you are hilarious Im the only one that posted a soldering guide(sure is funny how massdrop isnt updating my email on these anymore) cause I make all my own Silver OCC Cables. Also an amp knob is not a "volume" knob its a power knob and its different for every headphone. I compare the output of the HD598SE to other headphones not to the "volume" knob and the HD598SE's crack up before others that get much louder and amp better. The HD598SE amps very poorly compared to the 6 series.

iCeOL8TRAmnesiaI had 598SE too but never felt the sound breaking. It's so easy to drive, from DACport slim or any other source it got so loud but never cracked. Maybe problem with your unit. I agree amping capability is almost none(which is good) and the phones leave the desire for something better especially the bass which led me to sell them.
