I was thrilled to unbox my new monitor on 24 January. Initial verdict: 8/10. No dead pixels, check. Excellent colors, check. The power cable was a close fit -- it is a standard 3-prong AC power cable (US), but 5 feet is a bit short for monitor power. Thankfully I had my computer on the right of the desk, and the DisplayPort cable reached. No complaints, and I'm glad to have a DisplayPort cable included. The following criticisms are meant to be positive and provide feedback to potential buyers and to Massdrop.
Issue #1: In full black or low light scenes, the backlight bleed is not bad. Except in one spot. On my monitor there is a glaring "pinch" at the top center of the screen... when viewed in a dark room. Viewing the monitor in a well lit room greatly reduces the impact of backlight bleed.
Fast forward to the next day. Monitor is seeing some light use, and something is just... off. Long story short ...
Issue #2: the monitor rests with a slight tilt towards clockwise (probably a few degrees). Given that the monitor adjusts from vertical to horizontal through a counter-clockwise motion, this is the end of the line. There's no more counter-clockwise to spin it. For the time being, I am propping the right foot of the monitor stand up with a folded-over mousepad. Probably not good for the monitor stand, but the tilt on such a wide field of view is not good for my head.
tl;dr - The monitor meets the specs I'm looking for and I'm sure it will be grand, but there are a few minor annoyances that I hope get addressed in the next batch, the most pressing of which is being off-level by a few degrees when horizontal.
