Don’t let a little wind keep you indoors. Weighing just 2.7 ounces, the Massdrop Veil wind shell is ideal for hiking, biking, running, traveling, and more Read More
I used it as a top shell for biking. Definitely blocked the wind , but it is basically not breathable at all. I would recommend using these for low to medium effort activities. Worked perfectly as advertised on the back of a motorcycle though.
I wear this under a jacket that isn't a good wind breaker. It works well. I do this because I'm worried about tearing it when walking through shrubbery.
Packs down small into the breast pocket, and does a great job at blocking the wind without making you sweat. I throw it in my pocket when I'm out on my bike so that I can quickly throw it on without stopping if needed. The hood also rolls into itself if not in use. The cuffs all seal nicely from the wind. The only time I experience some wind sneaking in is through the neck area when I'm biking. Not a big deal as I usually have some sort of buff on anyways. Only knocked off a star because there could have been some sort of drawstring to solve this.
It fits small, but I usually wear smaller sizes so it worked well for me. Should be snug enough around you so wind doesn't blow up from the bottom. But even in san francisco wind, I can stay warm with just a layer or two underneath. It's invaluable when backpacking because of how small and light it is.
Very Light, Good Windproof Windshell for a Great Price
This is a very good, near wind proof wind shell. I find wind shells like this good for cool to cold temps or in very, very windy conditions. I find a windshell with a CFM of 11 (which this has) gets a bit overwhelmed with sweat when temps are warmer, but this is a good performing shell for colder temps. You can always manage moisture with the taking the hood down, unzipping partially or fully.
The build quality is good and the design is simple. A cinchable hood or waist would be nice, but that would increase weight.
As many others have mentioned, sizing up is recommended. I wear a size M in just about everything and the L fits me well.
