How does this compare with the Audio GD Ladder DAC+AMP >http://www.audio-gd.com/R2R/R2R11/R2R11EN.htm?
Both discreet Ladder, except the Audio GD has an amp, where MD is DAC only. Same price $350 makes this a good comparison.
swiftsword69I’ve an R2R 11 and it’s pretty good, I haven’t heard the Massdrop one but I guess the performance is similar. I think the main difference between the two is going to be just sound signature.
verifonixNo, the RDAC doesn’t seem like the better option at this point in time, regardless of already having a dedicated amp.
Airist is currently under a cloud of scrutiny that has already revealed that they have a limited knowledge of the PCB board design (their words, not mine). This a 1.0 for them as well, so no pedigree.
Audio GD is well reviewed across the forums; their R2R 11 has already gone through revision(s) (current one addresses the clicking, when the bitrate changes from song to song)
R2R 11 takes about 2 weeks to receive (vs. 6 months) and costs $381 shipped; which reflects a 5% discount that I recv’d, when I bought mine a couple of days ago.
LGCi"Audio GD is well reviewed across the forums" both audiosciencereview and superbestaudiofriends do not like Audio GD products at all. Head-fi likes them though. But the preview/reviews from this airist R2R has been really good on both head-fi and superbestaudiofriends so I'm sure it'll be a decent DAC for the money. I ordered it.
It's true that the 6 months wait is a b*tch though.
verifonixNot really. I want to obtain the best DAC comparing the two. I do have a capable amp but also like to have appreciate the convenience of a DAC+AMP. But either way works for me, my goal is to achieve the better sound out of the DAC of the two, not if it contains the AMP or not as I can go either way. I could just bypass the amp section in the audio gd when use my more capable standalone amp but having it there when I only want to play with one box is also handy.
eliraI dont blame you. The MD is not even in first run production yet. I was more asking from judging at the specs. Looks like the Audio GD has the improved USB vs the Xmos on the MD.
Is there a different in the ladder configurations?
maheeWhen you follow the directions for ordering, they will send you an invoice, with their PayPal acct. information. If the anniversary is till going on, it will be reflected in the invoice.
maheego to http://www.audio-gd.com/R2R/R2R11/R2R11EN.htm
click buy it now, under step 3 you will see words in orange color, tells you after discount plus shipping and all other fee will be $381.4 (to USA)
Hope this help.
eliraAnyone here listen to both the MD Airist R2R and a R2R11 yet? Really torn between these two. I have 5 amps, so if the MD DAC portion is better.. easy choice. If not, extra amp for the money with the Audio-gd.
ls13cocoI have compared the Audio-gd r-2r 11 to the Denafrips Ares,, and the 11 was missing some detail,, short review;) thought the r-2r realism came right through; Audirvana / Audio g-d r-2r 11 / Audeze EL-8.
Plenty of power with the r-2r 11, and that was a deciding factor for me, wanted the combo for this use; did not experience any noise issues with the r-2r 11; with a clean USB...
