Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

-Update Plugged these into the iFi Micro, ahhhhh yiss now these are sounding lovely! In my opinion if you do not have a nice dac/amp to use these with you are likely to achieve a better sounding headphone from the Philips SHP9500 out of the box and with your phone.
Update Breaking the M220 in and driving them with any of my dac/amps I think the headphone sounds absolutely crisp and detailed. You guys might think I'm crazy but the more I listen to these I'm thinking I like them a little better than my K7XX, the soundstage to me is more intimate but it works for this set really well. The overall listen on these are enjoyable and keep me engaged. I could easily recommend them at the current price. I could however not recommend driving them from a phone still as they make these go from sublime to subpar. The headphones themselves are very comfortable and can be worn for hours no problem. I still believe the SHP9500s is a great headphone but between the two it really becomes dealers choice however the SHP9500s when paired with a phone is the better choice between the two.
The SHP9500s is not a BOOM BOOM bass monster but definitely has enough bass when a song demands it. For electronic or rap it will deliver some nice quick and punchy bass. You could probably EQ it even further but just keep in mind that this isn't a bassy headphone, just like the AKG sets. This set is about the engaging sound signature, great vocals and enough bass to get the job done without being totally disappointing.
Philips upgrade path would be SHP9500 < Fidelio L2 < Fidelio X2 IMO. Obviously there are some big price differences from the SHP9500 to Fidelio X2 but the SHP9500 is a great choice for under $100, I've seen them for as much as 35-45 dollars. Unless somebody else has experience with other options which there are likely many these to me are a great headphone for nearly every genre of music.
Take all this with a grain of salt for now as I just got my M220's and they likely need ample break in time for everything to come together and this is solely my opinion and others may have different experiences.
