Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I know what im about to suggest is the "wrong" way to do it, but try plugging the DacMagic's amp output to the inputs of the Carbon X just to test is the volume is fine. Turn the volume up all the way on the DacMagic outputs and then control the volume with the Carbon X. The Carbon has a rather low 10kohm input impedance, so high for a headphone port sure but it is much lower than the 50k-100k that a lot of amps have for their input impedance. So it shouldn't really be damaging to your DacMagic especially not for a short time of use. You would still be using the SE inputs which doesnt rule out a whole lot, but it will at least help you know whether it is an issue between the DAC outputs you are using or the cables connecting the two devices.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear that your LCX is working fine. Better a silly mistake than finding out you have to get a replacement :) (I get myself in similar situations all the time when swapping audio gear around and it usually takes some head scratching and looking over everything in the chain 2 to 3 times before figuring out what I forgot to do).
