my eyes may be getting old Dan, but can this be used as a 4 season?
MRuffoloI definiately considered shedding snow as a design consideration when developing the slopes of the walls. These walls are sufficiently steep and none of the panels are too large, so I think the X-Mid would do quite well in a decent snowfall.
If your idea of 4 season is heading out in the woods in January when it might snow, then certainly this would do well. Conversely, if your idea of 4 season is pitching it in a howling blizzard on some alpine ridge at 14,000', then that would be asking a lot. For extreme mountaineering conditions, you'd be better off with something that has a solid fabric inner, tougher fabrics throughout and more guyout points.
I'd love to build a "X-Mid Alpine" that satisfies this, but that's a long way off if it ever happens because that's a much smaller market. Most folks would prefer a 28oz 3 season tent, than a 40oz 4 season tent.

dandurstonThanks for the reply. My idea for 4 season is as lightweight as possible to add into my Get Home Bag from Jan-Dec. Seems like this would work.
