Biggest question is- did they fix the ridiculously strong detent - which was prone to falling out because it was way too strong.
subsonic1050Yes and no. The detent is strong by design, and typical of FFKW knives. The buildup of pressure before release is what creates the fast opening action, and also prevents accidental opening. A small handful of detent balls were reported to have fallen out (a small fraction of a percent), and anyone who reported it was sent a new lockbar insert with detent ball at no charge. It's likely this was caused by the hole in the insert being too shallow or wide, or the ball being too small or not pressed in far enough, but unlikely it would be caused by the strength of the detent - that ball is either stuck in there solid, or it's not. A strong detent pushes down own the ball, just the same as it pushes laterally - it's just a matter of whether the ball is set into the lockbar insert firmly. So, to answer your question: yes the handful of reports of detent balls coming out have been addressed, and no - we didn't see the strong detent as anything needing to be fixed. Thanks for asking, hope that addresses your concern.

JonasHeinemanThanks for the reply. I bought a few of these falcon, and the detent is WAY, way too strong. I have a lot of high end knives- including a few custom knives. None have a detent anywhere near this strong. The detent does not need to be this strong to get a fast flipper action- not even close. I felt that it was so difficult to overcome it almost felt dangerous to deploy given the force I was exerting. That single thing made the knife unusable IMO. It was also a bit small to me, but the detent was the real problem with this knife.

JonasHeinemanThe Falcon is a stiff knife, I'm glad nothing was changed aside from maybe a little extra QC love to the insert and detent area.

subsonic1050I love the snappy action. I'd rather the detent be too strong than too weak...

subsonic1050If the choice is between too strong and too weak, then sure, I'll take too strong. But why does it have to be an extreme? Why not enter the, fairly large, goldilocks zone?

subsonic1050I don't think the Falcon is extreme, you just have to break it in
