I looked at the TUKK and don't see what the fuss is about. They only look about as alike as two different brands of frame lock folders. Same materials, different shape. This design honestly looks like an improvement to me.

I don’t think I’m going around and harping on every comment about how this seems like a reactionary move, and I certainly don’t feel comfortable policing the huge broad knife community. I even said that I don’t think Massdrop did something illegal here... so please reconsider trying to grill me, because I said my opinion and concerns once or twice in one thread without trying to be really aggressive about it.
I’m also not a grizzled veteran or knife nut to know every instance of one larger company appropriating money making ideas from small start-ups. I have learned a little, and do know that Benchmade had a patent and over 25 years to make money off their axis lock design and become a larger established company... and now that their patent has “timed out,” Benchmade still had some sort of license deal with Spyderco to put a round opening hole into their Griptillian. Other companies like Spyderco also license and credit the designers too, like the Emerson Wave feature and I think they even state it is a Walker Liner Lock in their knives that use it. Is it silly to cal something a Boyd Detent in marketing materials? Maybe, but I can’t fault their commitment.
Anyway, I’m getting back to my holiday weekend, and shopping for a larger complimentary knife. Truth be told, I looked up the Perpetua after you said it, and kind of regret missing out on that knife despite it looking a little plain. I hope you have a fun weekend too, and wouldn’t mind me leaning on your knife experience sometime in the future for suggestions.

I'm gonna just go out on a limb and say this:
"It's made in China" is not a good argument for why you think something is of lower quality.
Like...everything is made in China. Almost all of your electronics are made in China. And the good shit, too. Nintendo Switches, GPUs, smartphones, etc. It's an absurd argument that was out of date, like, 15 years ago.
Get over it. China can make good shit.
And just because it's Made in the USA doesn't mean it's actually good shit nor does it necessarily mean it's actually going to a worthy cause.

Man, I have truly enjoyed the civility amongst everyone in here regarding this back and forth debate for what amounts to be "box cutters"! I think we've all been in some news group discussion before that started out sane and civil on say, the subject of weedeaters or vitamins, etc. and before you know it, it has turned into a full blown character assault on the individual, their mother, sister you name it.

@Tactical_Keychains we hear your frustration, but why not let your product speak for itself? or keep innovating? if your product is good and needed, then you were bound to face stiff competition sooner or later. whether you want to categorize it as moral or immoral, it doesn't change the legality of this competition or the reality of what you need to do to thrive in the marketplace.

Wow, even using the same brand of blades as TUKK to have the 'U.S.A.' peeping through - except the product isn't even US made.
This is the world now though; IPs and patents are archaic systems that only exist to preserve monopolies through expensive lawyers. I'm not really against "shanzhai", but it does still come across as a little shameless when a large company does it to a small one.
Personally I don't care for Copper or Brass shells nor those body screws being thread right into the Copper and Brass. And the button seems half-baked in comparison to the TUKK, being just a smooth torx screw head.

any Experience on brass vs copper patina differences? I read on some Watch forums that bronze patinas faster and has that cool green tint, but it can leave residue on your hands, etc.

Great example, though both of those knives have obvious similarities in styling and build with traditional slipjoints like the Sodbuster. I think they're different enough in execution and similar enough to existing generic patterns that their coexistence is only natural.

Copper, the unsung hero of our modern age. It's amazing we have been using and manipulating this material for thousands of years and we are still finding new and amazing properties and uses for this metal. The anti viral properties discovered recently blew me away.

Most of the small arms on the ships I was stationed on were old hand me downs from the marines and army. A lot of worn out junk to be honest. We didn't have a huge need for that type of armament. VBSS boarding parties, pier and ship security force when in port. Our small arms were old and crap but our missile systems and gun mounts were wicked awesome. And our sonar was crazy lethal.
