Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I listen with 64 YO ears, so what I might hear or not hear should be taken with some grains of salt. For instance, it has been a long time since I thought a headphone was overly treble bright.
There are two things, "I thought" I heard differently between the EB and the PH 1. On some songs I think I hear a little bit more resonance/echo/bloom on some drums/percussion, it's not a lot. I would not have noticed it on the PH, if I wasn't listening to the same song back to back comparing with the EB. 2. On Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells, at the end of the score, with some instruments in the upper mids, the EB sounds richer, fuller and the PH sounds a bit thin. This is a pretty singular example, so I wonder what it is I think I am really hearing.
Just for grins, I listened to Tubular Bells on the recently dropped Sennheiser 6XX. I think both PH and EB have more extended bass and richer fuller sound thru the mids and highs, but I could pick up some additional details on the 6XX.
At the end of the day, the EB/PH sound very similar. I got the EB just for the looks. If they had dropped first, I wouldn't have also gotten the PH.
Like you said compared to your HD6XX, the EB definitely has much more bass extension when compared to my HD650. I personally find the HD650 more comfortable overall and plan to try the Dekoni ear pads on the EB whenever they drop again.
