Hi, I am a newbie in audiophile. Could someone please explain to me how to connect a Sennheiser Hd 650 to this amp's 3-pin XLR balanced line output ? Plus please give me some suggestion on the brands of cable? Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards!

schoi604Hi, this is not an amp, this is only a DAC (digital-to-analog converter). This thing converts your digital files into a line-level analog signal, but it doesn't do any amplification. You can't connect headphones to it. You have to connect this to an amplifier and then plug your headphones into that amp.

schoi604Hi, thanks for your interest in our product! This product is a DAC (Digital to Analog Converter), which converts digital signals (like your computer's music files) to analog signals (sound waves). Headphones should not be plugged into this unit directly. This product should be connected to an amplifier (preferably one designed specifically for headphones).
For more information on DACs and Amps, we wrote a few posts on these a couple years ago. Hope it is helpful! https://www.massdrop.com/talk/92/massdrop-101-what-is-a-dac https://www.massdrop.com/talk/87/massdrop-101-what-is-an-amp

john.yuThank you for your reply. I am sorry I somehow had the impression that is intergrated amp with Dac build in to it. Thank you for clearifying it.

schoi604This isn't an amp. Its a dac (digital audio converter). You connect the DAC to your computer using usb or spdif, and the 3 pin xlr outputs into the inputs on your balanced headphone amplifier (i.e. a Schiit Jotunheim or Cavalli Liquid Carbon X). Your balanced headphones plug into the 4 pin XLR connector on your balanced headphone amplifier. I wouldn't fret too much about brands of cables. Most people swear there is no real difference between a 10 dollar cable and a 100 dollar cable.
