Received these headphones 11/26/2017. Listening thru FLAC files > Samsung Galaxy 4 > Oppo HA-2se. Compared to Phillips Fidelio X2, HE4XX do not disappoint! Detailed audio, great separation w/ instruments, sharp imaging and decent soundstage. Guitar tones are well defined compared to X2 while vocals do not have much difference. Low end is not as extreme as X2. Cons are build quality and power efficiency. Would have to drop significantly more credits to replace these planars, great job Massdrop!

lvlcCoyI also have Fidelio X2's and from my limited time with the HE4XX so far I have to agree with your points! I was pleasantly surprised by the detailed bass, had worried a bit that compared to the X2 they would be anemic but I'm happy to say they fill out the full range quite nicely. Definitely have been enjoying the sound with electronic and rock music. Running on a Schiit magni/modi stack I have to turn it up compared to the X2 but power isn't an issue for me there; might be more limiting on a smartphone but that's never been my usecase for these cans. I'm personally very pleased with the build quality and really like the comfort, I'm not sure if I like it better than the X2 but it's certainly not worse, which is great considering I love the comfort of the X2.
