Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. Now on to the good! The 4xx is incredibly clear and resolves details my 7xx struggles with. Its most noticeable in busy passages of songs. My 7xx loses some of the edge on the high notes when a booming bass track is present. The 4xx manages to separate out each instrument and keep them all very clear. Coupled with the crisp highs and extended sub bass the 4xx is my current music match. I still like the 7xx, even for music, but I'll be primarily using it for gaming now. The 4xx wins out too strongly in clarity. I think I get what they're saying when they use the word "speed" now. I like it. A lot.
tldr - While my 7xx wins out in isolation, soundstage, and comfort, the 4xx brings out the best in music. I plan to keep both as they compliment each other nicely. Which is the better headphone? Hard to say, but $170 for the HE 4xx is just madness. I'm very happy with them.
