For those who don’t know me, I am the Product Development Manager for all outdoor products here on the Massdrop Collaborations Team. My experience includes years spent developing apparel in the outdoor industry, and I am a passionate albeit generalist user of outdoor apparel and gear! I’m excited to introduce the Massdrop x Kelty SBX 20 sleeping bag. We’ve worked with Kelty to bring back their highly rated SB 20 sleeping bag, and are utilizing their new ToastyTech Ultra premium synthetic insulation to make this bag more functional in poor weather as well as offering a compelling price! What makes this bag special and what did we change?
Robust Feature Set We kept the features that make this bag great, including the waterproof panels at the hood and foot, thermal comfort-fit hood construction, top draft collar, and box baffle construction. We’ve updated the filling from down to Kelty’s new proprietary ToastyTech Ultra premium synthetic insulation, which is hypoallergenic, provides more water resistance, and will continue to insulate even when wet. This technology is a new addition for Kelty, and being offered for the first time in this bag. Competitive Price Point We wanted to create a product that has the immense feature set of a high-quality sleeping bag and uses high-quality synthetic insulation, and offer it at a price point that allows for entrance into the outdoor industry without breaking the bank. This collaboration is geared toward both the outdoor enthusiast looking for a highly durable, water-resistant bag option, as well as new users looking to get geared up and outdoors for the first time! This bag will provide all the feature set you need and last through extended use over time. New Colorways We worked with Kelty to develop two brand-new colorways unique to Massdrop: Dark Shadow/Maui Blue for men’s and Nightshade/Burnt Sienna for women’s. We’ve also added reflective hits on the drawcords for added functionality and custom graphics unique to this collaboration. Why Kelty? Kelty has been a major force in the outdoor industry since 1952, and one of the first outdoor brands requested on Massdrop. Their focus on having fun outdoors is a mindset that we loved when we began to approach them for a collaboration.
