Backpacking wise: why would you use this instead of extra clothes in stuff sack or just wrapped in a "ball"??

tau_neutrinoPersonal preference. It takes almost no room, and at 55 g/1.9 oz for the pillow & sack, it's a lightweight luxury, and much more comfortable than clothes balled up. YMMV.
