Is this comfortable for side sleepers?

I'm a side sleeper and it's great if another person is on the pad. If not, you can touch the ground in certain places.

apunneurosisI agree that solo, it doesn't work for a side sleeper very well. You just need more distance between you and the ground and this one is fairly thin being an ultralight.

While this is very broad question and highly situational. For example, Like how firm you blow up your pad. Or how much weight is on the pad. Are you veteran or first time out in the woods. All these could effect your opinion on whether this is a good side sleeping pad. One can only give a glimpse to giving you a enough information. I own both ultra light dou and the regular dou pads from klymit. Both pad are great. But I would say the ultralight version is better all around pad to his heavier brother. Now if you are a newbie or value a 'bed feel' more than weight this pad is ok but you should look for pads more in line of 4 inches thick or more. This is a great buy for the price and weight.

Shobester24I tend to toss around my sleep and made the pad more firm than usual and it works fine. Never did touch the ground with mine. But yeah, great value and decent weight.

It Is lofty but for side sleeping might be slightly lacking. I typically use a closed foam underneath for a bit more cushion for sleeping on my side. Really depends on the weight on the pad.

Do each sides hold air separately or is it combined?

It is combined.
What would be best down sleeping set up for this pad, recommendation on double sleeping bag or two mummy sacks?

Both would work just fine. I use mine with both setups and are equally great.

If I am new, what must I look for in a pad?

For car camping whatever is the most comfortable. Backing this would be a bit heavy but if you split your carry with the other person sharing the pad with you, it’s relatively low weight.

Does anyone know or use a liner that will fit this pad?
