I bought this over the summer as part off an earlier drop. Love the size, thickness, overall comfort. The stuff sack pump adds weight, but you'll want to use it. Keeps breath moisture and nasties out of your pad innards. i've been using a similar stuff sack/pump for my Big Agnes for years and love it. Now for the down side: After just a few uses, my pad developed a slow leak. Slow meaning, butt on the cold ground at 4am. Doing a bathtub test with a pad this size was difficult to say the least, but it seems that it might be a leak around the "deflate" valve. I've submitted a request for warranty coverage or repair to Klymit. 4 days and I'm still waiting for a reply. (other companies I deal with get back to me within 48 or less - Big Agness, Zpacks, Enlightened Equip). The size is great for a low mileage 2 person trip. I really wish I had one that functioned properly.
Great product! It was easy to setup and pretty self explanatory for using the stuff sack as a pump. Nice and lightweight for when my wife and I go backpacking with the tent. I also noticed there was some patches included too. I can't wait to use it!
Great products as long as you have zero issues, as they have ZERO customer service. I've been trying to get a hold of a human being for over a month & half and still waiting on a refund from a return that was delivered to them 4 weeks ago! So sad, as I thought this company had a lot of potential. :(
Can we get more information on the "Stuff sack dry bag / pump sack" and how it works?
squebz
The stuff sack has a plastic/rubber bit that fits on the inflate valve, and you roll down the top of the bag to inflate the pad. It’s not really a dry bag, as it’s got a hole in the bottom.
Get this instead of the hammock one.
How about a long version?
How do you make the pump sack a dry bag with the air hole in the bottom? Thanks!

I have one of these. it has a cap/plug similar to the one on the pad. You close it. It's sealed.
ShelliC
Hmm I did not see any cap when I got it. Was it attached or something? Maybe I will have to send a email to massdrop.
Is it ok to use it with a quilt or blanket ? I mean there will be no down in the hole and maybe cold point
Doomlike
Have used in warm temps (+ 5 deg) and had no problems. Swap to sleeping bag for anything colder.

Weight on par With original specs? Comfort?
GH05TB34RD
24.2oz for just the pad. Comfort seems good. You can feel the extra thickness vs the normal Klymit pads. Definitely pretty narrow for 2, but that's ultralight for ya.
If you're used to shorter pads to save weight can you shorten these like I've seen some people do to other pads? My gf is only 5'2 so I could cut off at least 10" without it bothering her

Really? Do they sew them back closed? It would void the lifetime guarentee I guess.
Chris-NL
I think they use irons to seal them. I just wanted some confirmation that people have tried it on these
It would be awesome if you designed a quilted v sheet for the 2p version too.
P.s. How well does sexual intercouse work on this pad? Asking for a friend 😁
This insulated pad weighs less than my Luxe single LOL
Got mine in! Glad it came in finally. One thing I noticed, no patch kit :( odd since their single pads all have them.
McCaskill
Check the stuff sack, I found mine in the bottom when I was pumping it.
Just wanted to express my dissatisfaction with massdrop. Since it took so long between the start of the drop and shipping I have moved.
I got notified via FedEx that a label was created to my old address. FedEx actually used USPS so only the shipper massdrop can change where the product is being shipped. USPS didn't forward to my new address because it is sent via FedEx.
Contacted massdrop. Response was contact FedEx. Really bummed that I waited so long and now I am in the black hole of massdrop, FedEx and USPS.
Massdroo help!
Hi everyone,
We just received the latest update from Klymit on the Massdrop x Klymit Ultralight Double Sleeping Pad. The necessary revisions announced in our last update are taking longer than expected and, unfortunately, we’re now tracking for a late-September ship date. We apologize for the additional wait and want to thank you all for your patience in spite of the multiple delays.
We’ve worked with Klymit to add an additional credit for $30 to your account. This is in addition to the $15 credit from the initial delay. This credit will be automatically applied to the next drop you join. If you don’t want to wait the additional time you can cancel your order via the transactions page: https://www.massdrop.com/transactions
We’ll provide an update with the latest information in mid-September to keep you all in the loop. Again, our apologies for the additional delay and we’re working to get your sleeping pads to you as soon as we can.

I never even considered that a possibility. I will actually cry.
JaleesaG
Any updates on this? Being as how it's almost the end of September I've been expecting to see a post any day now about how Massdrop is sure they will be shipping in November.
It's aliiiiiive!
Any chance of seeing this again soon? What was the price range for these pads anyhow? Is that information available while a drop is inactive?

I lied - it's $109.99 for the uninsulated, $129.99 for the insulated. My bad! Still, pretty good value as long as the specs line up and it's comfy.

I don’t love the spruce color, but this pad looks like a real solid option for me and my Son to cram into our Hornet at the end of the day. I’m hoping to hear some positive reviews when people get theirs.
Greetings Friends,
I'm super happy to announce our newest collaboration - the Ultralight Double Sleeping Pad. This builds on our success of Massdrop x Klymit pads with ultralight 20 denier fabric, non-slip treatment on part on the bottom fabric, and fast inflate/deflate valves. We've listened to our members who have made it clear that there is demand for a double-wide pad in this same style.
What's wrong with current options on the market?
Weight: Most double pads are meant for car camping and therefore are typically too heavy to take backpacking.
Size: Also, many existing double pads are too wide to fit into the most popular light and ultralight shelters.
Cost: Since most double pads are made for car camping, they tend to be of lower quality. The only truly ultralight pad, made by Exped, costs $300 - well out of the range of what most people will spend.

Our Ultralight Double prototype with my custom EE two-person quilt.
We wanted to address these issues and give you an option to cuddle with your best hiking partner. You no longer have to fiddle with straps to couple two pads together, leaving cold air gaps. You can now afford to get a pad that is both comfortable and light. We've been able to increase the thickness to 3.2" to help you achieve your best night of sleep. And this makes it a great fit for not just backpacking, but also cabin trips, car camping, and luxurious solo trips.

As for the size, this double pad is essentially double of our regular pad. However, it feels bigger because you're sharing the space with someone so you don't feel the edge effect as much. Yet, it's small enough to fit into a "solo" tent like the Tarptent Protrail. To illustrate, check at me and Yanbo (Mech Keys Product Manager) testing out an early prototype in our office. He's a buff dude with wide shoulders, and at 6'0" and 200 lbs, I'm no munchkin either. Yet here we are laying shoulder to shoulder with our elbows still on the pad. So, cuddling with your sweetie should be easy peasy for most folks.
search
Note that we lengthened the pad a bit from this earlier prototype
We've also heard you that for a pad like this, it would be ideal to have an air pump bag that is also a dry bag / stuff sack. We are working on one right now and will include it with every double pad. We do not have any photo-ready samples yet, though I can share the basic specs: 20d fabric, seam sealed with roll top, and about twice as wide as the current Klymit rapid air pump.
Happy to hear your thoughts on this! The drop starts Thursday morning and will run through all of February. Shipping will be early summer and we'll have a more specific date by Thursday.
-Danny

Could the inflate bag double as a pillow?
DannyMilks
@DannyMilks Please please consider adding a strap system with this so we can turn this into a 2 person 'love seat' at basecamp (see the Sea to Summit Air Chair concept, I hope the concept is not patented or anything). The thing is that bringing two S2S Air Chairs with 2 pads was a lot lighter than bringing 2 separate camp chairs (even the lightest weight ones are 600gr). Having a double pad removed the possibility of turning the 2 sleeping pads into comfortable chairs through the air chair system. I think almost every UL buyer of a 2 person pad would also consider adding that to their kit.
Hi everyone, We have an update on the production status of the Massdrop x Klymit Ultralight Double Sleeping Pad. Klymit has informed us that during final quality control checks they uncovered an issue with the welding of the pad. The issue made it so the pad wouldn’t pass their rigorous lifecycle testing and high quality standards. Klymit is currently working on making some revisions to the molding, and testing to make sure these revisions meet and exceed their thresholds. As soon as the product comes off the line, it will be air shipped to our warehouse in New Jersey where it will then be shipped to members. We know this wait has been frustrating and we apologize greatly. We’re working with Klymit to determine an estimated ship date given these changes, and we’ll provide an update as soon as we have more information from their production team. Thank you all for your patience!

Ditto. In hindsight, would have been lovely to know how long it would take because I'd have just put the money aside for the Exped. Even though they're pricey, I've used two different Expeds and they are super comfy. This pad better make me feel like I'm sleeping on a cloud or something.
AveryC
I missed this when it originally came up. If anyone who ordered one no longer wants their pad please let me know, and I’d be happy to purchase it from you when it does finally arrive.
@AveryC Is there any updates on this? I've bought this pad to start taking my 7yo hiking with me and it's coming in to prime hiking season here in Australia. If it's going to be to much longer I'm afraid I'll have to cancel my order. I'm a patient man and appreciate the fact this issue was picked up during QA but we should be being kept in the loop so we can make an informed decision and not be left wondering. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the quick response @AveryC Appreciate it.
It would’ve been nice to have this for at least part of the summer. :/

I ordered the non-insulated. I'll surely freeze to death. :/

Oh, ha! In that case, maybe you'll have it by summer. 🙈
Update 7/13 We’re checking in to let you know the Massdrop x Klymit Ultralight Double Sleeping Pads are wrapping up production. Once production is complete the pads will go through the quality control process.
We’re on track to ship the pads in August, and we’ll check back in around early August with the latest shipping update. Update 6/21 Hi everyone,
We just received the latest update from Klymit on the Massdrop x Klymit Ultralight Double Sleeping Pad. The production delay puts our new estimated ship date in August. We apologize for this delay, and we know it is extremely disappointing for everyone involved. We’ve worked with Klymit to add a $15 credit to your account. This credit will be automatically applied to the next drop you join. If you don’t want to wait the additional time you can cancel your order via the transactions page: https://www.massdrop.com/transactions
We’ll provide an update with the latest information in July.

The ones Massdrop mentioned in their own description: Exped Synmat HL Duo. They are right that it is a lot more expensive than the Massdrop one, but its a proven product and you can pick either the regular one with r3.3 or the ‘winter’ one with R5.0 (850-ish grams vs 1050-ish grams). I am leaving in 11 days so just couldn’t wait anymore.
AveryC
Any updates? We're now a week into August.
This drop has been, by far, the most poorly managed drop from you guys.
Any chance this is coming back soon?
Jared_evans
We don't even have the ones we ordered months ago. :( But I suspect that there will be some left from people canceling, and if they were smart they would offer them up for sale until they're gone. When they finally ship, that is. =/

Thanks for the reply!
My partner and I have been using a 2p quilt for the last 3 years. We normally use a fitted sheet to hold our pads together but due to nocturnal migration, one of us inevitably wakes up in the middle crack. I got an un-insulated, single valve, demo pad from Massdrop a couple weeks ago. The pad took approximately 2 minutes to manually inflate without too much effort. My partner and I slept on the pad 3 nights in a row and I have used it solo a handful of times since. I'm pretty stoked on this pad. I will use this (uninsulated) pad for warm weather and Ill buy an insulated pad for winter. Honestly, we didn't really notice the taper. We're both side sleepers but neither one of us felt cramped even when we were both on our backs. Also the pad was super plush with a 3-inch loft so I can only imagine the new 3.2-inch pad be even nicer. I've always been a little worried about the static-v design cause I thought my hip would bottom out in one of the Vs but we had no such problem. My only complaint was not being about to get ALL the air out of the single valve but I can see they added two quick release valves so that's solved. Our normal two pad set up weighs in at 44oz so 35oz is a HUGE will be weight drop for us. Since when do luxury items reduce your base weight?
I have been testing out a sample of this pad for the last couple of weeks. The quick summary is: I didn't know that I wanted this until I used it with my girlfriend - it's just that comfortable.
The idea of a double pad sounds great, but I'm quite happy with my existing NeoAir Xlite pads, which were already quite an investment, and so I didn't plan to buy any more pads. I have toyed around with different ways of mating the pads and found that while straps were the cheapest and lightest, they also allowed too many gaps. So I made a sil-nylon sleeve for the two pads and that worked well enough. Even with the sleeve, there was always the space between two pads, and my knee or elbow or shoulder would find and get cold throughout the night.
The Massdrop Double would appear to be 7 ounces heavier than my two NeoAir pads. However, once you include the sil sleeve, the weight different is more like 3-4 ounces. That's close enough to make a case for the Massdrop pad being well worth an extra 2 ounces per person, as it is noticeably thicker, quieter and more comfortable. The Double eliminates that cold air gap and the insulation is something like 25% warmer. I was usually warm enough on my old pad, but my gf can tell the difference and she sleeps better. I can't stress that part enough - warmer pad equals better sleep. So, for us, it's an easy decision to use this over the NeoAir.
I think the V chambers plus the polka dotted seams (for lack of better words) in the middle successfully isolate movement from your partner, unlike the standard straight vertical or horizontal chambers. My guess is that the air gets routed around so many directions that it dilutes the movement. This could be the best application of the V chamber yet.
I didn't have the non-slip treatment on my sample, but I know a lot of people add the silnet drops on the bottom of their pad to have the same affect. Not having to futz with that is a nice touch.
Overall, pretty impressed. Given that I'm seeing more and more UL couples, or even families, yet not a lot of new gear for them, this could be a new area of products for Massdrop.
Hi everyone, We have an update on the Massdrop x Klymit Ultralight Double Sleeping Pad. Unfortunately there was a delay in production and we are unable to meet our estimated ship date. We’re currently working with Klymit to come up with a new estimated ship date, and we should have more information next week.
We apologize for this delay, and if you don’t want to wait the additional time you can cancel your order via the transactions page: https://www.massdrop.com/transactions
We’ll provide an update by the end of next week.

Aww bummer. Still super stoked for this product though!
AveryC
Ya, bummed it didn't ship as expected, but since I got the insulated one and it's like 9,000 degrees outside right now, I can wait. Ha.
Any chance of this dropping again and being shipped before mid-July?:(
Any update on order status? Sill on track for midjune shipping?
Does anyone know if these will drop again before July 15th? Or should I not risk it and just get the singles and make do with trying to attach them together? I've read the discussion about attaching singles together but apparently its almost impossible to do it without having cold spots, so I've decided it would just be easier to get the double, but chances are it won't drop again so soon I'm guessing?
Can anyone tell me what sleeping on this pad feels like compared to a Thermarest Prolite (Plus)? I only have experience with that sort of pad construction, and I find in order to be warm, it needs to be inflated to where my aging joints and minimally padded skin find it to be too hard. Also, if anyone knows what bricks-and-mortar stores carry something similar so I could try it in person, that would be much appreciated. -Eric

My wife and I have similar pads to the prolite - been using them for maybe 10 yrs. We just move to Klymit Static V's last year. We've spent maybe 12 nights on the V's and they are definitely more comfortable than our 1.5" self inflating pads. On our old pads, I would have to flip around after to avoid getting sore. Side sleeping was not comfy at all. With the V, I don't need to flip and side sleeping is just fine. The only downside is warmth. There is very little R in the uninsulated V's compared to my self inflating. I've spent a few nights in the low 30's and been cold on the backside. So much that we put our down jackets under our sleeping bags. On the flip side, we used the V's in 75+ degrees and the coolness was much appreciated! I'm hopeful this double insulated pad will solve our coldness problem - hoping it ships soon! I got my V's at Costco, they had a Klymit day where I put one on the floor there and tested for a few moments. Other than that, they are hard to find in store.

Thanks much for the info.
