schoolbusI hope MiTo sticks to his guns on these kits and isn't influenced one iota by thinly-veiled threats. You had OVER ONE YEAR to make requests and to understand why the kits are being done a certain way. This isn't like Signature Plastics where we can entertain adding a few keys or even a new kit in the middle of the drop. It's much more difficult with GMK. I'm not saying it never happens in a GMK group buy, I'm saying it shouldn't. It's too late. The time has passed.
DataNo, you are wrong.
1. The IC thread was done on a small forum (GH) which stands for only a small portion of people buying this set.
2. There wasnt any gaijin/kobe kits presented, it was just renders with them on TKL.
So no people wasnt able to give feedback, since the option wasnt presented. How the heck can it be to late then?
EnsaumI was looking to get Ganji with blocknet and MiTo waves (without cyber deck)... still on the fence. I may just get cyber deck as now it’s cheaper.
ron310Ah. You could get Cyberdeck, take out the pink enter, then sell the rest of the kit on mm. Guaranteed you'd be able to sell it for much more than what you paid too (just be clear it's missing the pink enter)
DataExcuse me? Blockwaves was never a part of the original interest check on Geekhack. So where would anyone have provided that input years in advance? I'll wait.
If you'd even bothered to know that or read anything about this discussion before putting on your fanboy suit on I think you'd find that you're being a bit aggressive for no reason, but keycaps have a weird effect on people.
Blockwaves incorporates Enter symbols, there is a pink enter, is it too much to ask for a pink blockwaves enter? I think you overestimate the complexity of this request for whatever reason. Please sir, temper your unnecessary passion.
You're clearly new, because keys have been added on previous to drops on GMK drops especially through requests and popularity.
Sit down, or don't and continue with your unnecessary white-knighting.
jrjr2What does that even mean???
The kits were on GeekHack. The kits were on Massdrop. The kits were on Reddit and MiTo's blog. There's been a render album on Imgur for months. This discussion has been playing out over the last year and people have had tons of time to provide feedback and ask for additional keys/changes. I'm sorry if you missed that.
It's incredibly presumptive and rather arrogant to ask for changes/additions after people have already committed to buy. You're asking for something that could impact nearly a thousand orders and counting. Do you understand why that's a bad thing?
DataAdd the Hiragana vs Katakana polls (which he did twice just to make sure that polls weren't manipulated), the four or five updates he has posted on his blog, and that Mito has been gathering feedback for years from previous GMK sets, which is why all the kits are well balanced and he is successfully gambling with a huge novelties kit, two new language legends, icon mods, and more.
ZambumonYou are miss-informed. And running polls for what language people want has nothing to do with missing ISO keys.
1. People want the last needed ISO key (R3 alpha) and icon-mod ISO enter
2. How could one get those keys? Through the kobe/gaijin and blocknet set
3. Blocknet kit was NEVER posted before the GB. I just went through the GH thread.
4. gaijin/kobe kit was NOT posted either. What was posted though was a poll, in form of a TKL render - in order to illustrate how gaijin vs kobe alpha would look.
So: gaijin/kobe and blocknet kits was never posted. People didnt had any chance to give input.
People see them for first time, people give feedback they want ISO.
How would any of us be able to give feedback if we couldnt see the kits?
This is really annoying and misleading at best.
jrjr2100% agree. The mob mentality is rather disappointing. No one is trying to shit on MiTo. I'm spending an absolute shitton on laser, I'm very excited to buy it, that doesn't suddenly mean I'm not allowed to have an opinion.
I was an active participant in the IC on both Massdrop and GH, Blocknet was NEVER EVER shown, only mentioned vageuly. No specific kit details for the japanese kits were ever provided, we didn't even know which one would show up, just that one of them likely would in some form, there was definitely never any mention of iso support or lack thereof.
People see someone mention ISO and just start defending the choice, but they seem to miss that half of what people are complaining about is that there was never a chance to give feedback. The community was bypassed. Sure it is selling great, they may have even made the right choice if all they care about sales numbers, which i guess is likely true of MassDrop. But to act like the community was completely involved start to finish is a blatant lie. The community was shown bits and pieces from the start, and there was some requests for feedback towards the beginning, but the community never ever once got to give feedback on the specific kits that were going to be used.
Would this have solved everything? No of course not, many of the requests still would have been rejected, but then they at least would have been rejected during the IC phase, and when people ask later, you could say "we discussed this during the IC and decided against it". I have been given crap for complaining that there is no way to buy 7u purple spacebars... "oh you had a chance to give feedback, stop complaining..."
This is the kit I recall seeing in the IC:

Why would I have complained to MiTo in the IC that I wanted a purple spacebar kit when there WAS a purple spacebar kit.
MiTo has done an amazing job, no one is saying he didn't that doesn't mean there were no missteps and there is nothing to be learned or improved for future GB. At this point while I still think it's possible that some of the simpler fixes could be implemented, regardless of what is said, I'm not holding my breath. With the sales numbers where they are, there really is no reason for them to make changes even if they could. I suppose GMK could come through, but I'm already resigned to the fact that the dream turned out slightly less than what I'd hoped. Still gonna buy it like crazy though. But still gonna voice my opinion too, so maybe next time we can get a little closer to that perfection.
