Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. Sculpted-profile The majority of custom keycap sets are sculpted-profile (Cherry, SA, MT3, KAT, etc. - more on profiles generally here) so let’s start there. Because each row has a unique keycap shape, alt layouts require a unique keycap for each legend that moves off its QWERTY row. It is impossible to predict the exact grid or pattern a particular customer will receive with their kits. Some people may receive a very busy grid, others may not even see a grid at all. All kits wil be unique. We wanted the imperfections to be seen.
Therefore rendering it may not be entirely accurate. Every customer will receive their kits with a different grid underneath.
I’m sorry if you are disappointed, but I believe you set sky high expectations (nothing wrong with that, by the way) because you didnt fully understood what the product was supposed to be in the first place (and that can be a problem).
Me personally (speaking as enthusiast, not the creator) very much enjoy the grid you’ve got, the W looks molten and the others seem like melting. It reminds me of Terminator movies! Combined with a neutral keyset (for example something white) or maybe even Laser GMK itself, I think it‘s gonna look very very nice and cyberpunk. In my honest opinion the gamerish typeface keyset you have going on isn’t helping, the composition looks off. Doesn’t do justice in highlighting the kit which is an addon to Laser GMK. Of course the customers are free to use and display products as they want to. I’m just sharing my personal opinion as a hobbyist now.

Quoting myself:
“Our goal was to develop a product that would resemble manufacturing standpoints from a cyberpunk future.“
This was the first time anyone offered a product like this! Thanks a lot for the support and I hope you have high expectations for Laser GMK, that one is looking pristine!
